Speculation from Cal Twomey today that Tasmania will make Daicos their #1 target ahead of their debut season in 2028.
Likely offer:
Total earnings over his time at Tassie would be north of $20 million.
Daicos is contracted until 2029 so should he request a move for 2028, a trade will be required. Tasmania would be able to satisfy Collingwood with three top 10 draft selections that they are required to trade.
An 8 year deal would take Daicos through to 2035, when he would be 32 years of age. At this point a return to Victoria and Collingwood for a heartwarming 1-2 year career swansong would be possible, in the mould of Gary Ablett at Geelong. Daicos is one of the game’s most professional athletes, obsessive about his diet, condition and preparation. Unexpected major injury aside, he is very capable of playing into his mid 30s.
Former Pies list manager Derek Hine now works for the Devils, while former Pies coach Nathan Buckley is hot favourite to land the job as inaugural Senior Coach.

I think they get him if they do target him. Nobody is turning their back on $20 million. It’s just good timing by Daicos who may land the ultimate golden goose.
They talk about his family at Collingwood… I don’t think Peter or anybody in Nick’s family would be telling him to knock back a deal that means he and the next few generations will never have to work a day in their lives.
Likely offer:
- $3m upfront sign-on bonus
- 8 year contract at $2m per year
- Further club marketing payments
- Captaincy
- Third party deals with club sponsors
