Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

apologies if this has been discussed, but with the amount of bona fide guns up for grabs this year (Merrett, Petracca, Oliver, Butters?) is there enough draft currency and quality players available to trade in to get adequate compensation for Curnow?

It's an exciting time for us.
We might even get more coaches from Nth Melb!
disrespecting a Carlton employee - before they even start- and presuming you know better than the people in charge of running the Club much?

Wow we wont be getting Humphrey but will get Ethan Phillips. Yay !!
Just thinking out loud, maybe grab Opium by the hand and raucously roll around together on the bed of nettles that is the chicken little / sky is falling in thread and in turn save us all the vapid tedium of your insightful dross...!

So summary of overnight posts is

If Petracca goes to Adelaide GC go hard for Charlie and we probably get Humphrey

If Petracca goes to GC he probably squeezes out Humphrey and we're in the box seat.
Petracca had picked GC.

Sam Edmonds thinks Humphrey to a Melbourne team is a real possibility.

Essendon, Melbourne and Carlton are going hard. Melbourne makes the most sense as it can happen as a Petracca trade.

Essendon possibly considering sending their firsts to WC for pick one and later pick swaps.

Ethan Phillips training at club. Hope they pick him up. Good Silvagni replacement
Yep i bet they've told him they'll pick him up if they can.

Apparently Humphrey met with bloody Sam Mitchell during the year.

So there you go.

The successful teams strike again. Whilst we flounder. So much for equality.

Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong. Just never fail.

Where is Cripps. Do any of our players do any recruiting. I guess not given our captain doesnt get involved in these matters.

Lol...you sound like a salty communist!

Fair play to Hawthorn for putting themselves in this position. No one to blame here other than ourselves.

This has disappointment written all over it
Charlie looks like persona non grata for these teams for some reason
May well be the motivation / reality check he needs to fire him up - the decision has always been in the Clubs hands - ultimately it will be the CLub's call - doesn't matter how feral his management has been...

or it may well see Carlton get Hayward another player and a pick - Club decides on what it needs and what price - not anyne else - including curnow.

This is what I love about trade time. The internal rollercoaster of believing what you want to believe and banking on it as fact, then riding the emotion as it plays out!

Cause even the "worst" outcome is

Charlie, TDK, Jack out

Chesser, Khamis, Reidy, Dean, Ison, Florent, another first round pick for this year, and another one to help with Cody next year.

Yes, in theory that's a net loss, but I truly believe we will be a better "team" with all of the additions in the years to come.

I'm a lot more bullish than most on here.
There will be natural progression too. Look at how Hewett flourished when he was given the keys. Its not as black and white as most people think.

Patrick Cripps: “Bailey, I’ve been carrying this lot for 10 years. What’s one more?”

I'd choose Burton before Phillips....
Burton is a third tall defender at 191. Phillips is a KPD at 197.

Didn't he train last pre season with us too?
He did... got offered a VFL contract before we made the final SSP selections. Same with DGB, although I think that he got his contract after the SSP selections.

There is no way that Gold Coast can afford Petracca without losing someone.

I am not treating TDK or JSOS as massive outs.

Brisbane just won back to back premierships with Darcy Fort leading the midfield, who would be lucky to sit within the best 20 rucks in the competition. Stats say we win more with Pittonet in the side.

JSOS is a loss to our best 22 but has played less than 20 games over the last 3 years. We are losing something we never actually got use out of.

We are going to free up near 2m in cap space by letting them go. The Saints have blown close to 3m on them. It’s a shame to lose talented players but for a top heavy side with salary cap issues those are the “best” possible losses.

Charlie is going to be the killer, which is why we will need to be well compensated. Get Hayward into the side and we lose maybe 20 goals head to head, but with Harry, Kemp and Moir back and a more dynamic system we can make up for it.

I think next year is going to be tough, hopefully not tougher than this year but I can’t see us making the 8. 2027 is the year we must bounce back with our new found cap space and kids who have been fast tracked.

And then you see the AFL give West Coast a free draft pick, all so they can essentially bring in Starcevich for free.

Anything is possible in this makey uppey competition.
