As much as l love Coxy, he won't get many senior opportunities next year with us. We want to start exposing youth, and l would like to see Steene get some opportunities. Plus Buller can play that forward/ruck role, should he come across. At some point we need to stop going back to the well of the older players.I would agree that he was a big part of the last few games, but 2/3 of the season might be a stretch
He's an upgrade on Long and our midfield falls away after Nick. We're pretty much relying on De Goey to have a fit 2026 after two injury interrupted years to fill that gun midfield bull role. He’s a solid player for sure. I just don’t think we need him.
We’ve already got a that player in Perryman and he has to play at half back because of Pendlebury. Don’t think we have the space for Steele. We’ve done well with discarded St Kilda captains pushed out by Ross previously. He’s a good contested defensive mid, and could play a similar role to Dunkley and unlock our others to attack

And yet - he was important in a critical final and showed his worth.Laughed at this. Those 5-6 games, including multiple where he was subbed out, really set us up for a finals push!
Ned is only 22 and will hopefully continue to improve. Replacing him with a 29 year old doesn’t seem like an upgrade to me.He's an upgrade on Long and our midfield falls away after Nick. We're pretty much relying on De Goey to have a fit 2026 after two injury interrupted years to fill that gun midfield bull role.
Can’t keep a guy on the back of one game. And yet - he was important in a critical final and showed his worth.
It’s almost the season for it!PIMS??
Is this bloke some sort of royalist boomer?
What is that worth? A player who will be lucky to be in the AFL next year? And yet - he was important in a critical final and showed his worth.
I won't be surprised at all if he asks for a trade in the next week and a halfI wonder who fed that Bailey Humphrey shit to McGuire and Edmund. Trade period is hilarious, what a shit show.
His final's series was one game where he did a bit and then one where he was thrashed. And yet - he was important in a critical final and showed his worth.
People whinge about journos pumping out any old crap just to be "first."So many of the same links being posted multiple times, sometimes even more than once per page. Can we all please take the time to read through the pages before posting links to ensure it hasn't already been shared.
Today just seems overloaded with repeated repetition.Today just seems overloaded with repeated repetition.

She peaked a few Olympics ago. Would still bring speedPendleton has been overshadowed
Doubt we’ll notice
I don’t necessarily disagree - I think Perryman would be great in that role. But his positional versatility might get in the way. We’ve already got a that player in Perryman and he has to play at half back because of Pendlebury. Don’t think we have the space for Steele.
Never said we’d keep him. Can’t keep a guy on the back of one game.
Maybe a typoSo the Blosers get pick 19 for Silvagni. Tom Morris again on the mark...Pick 10..![]()
Some of the other veterans maybe in the same position if we play the kids - but it’s no reason to deride their historical contributions. What is that worth? A player who will be lucky to be in the AFL next year?
After living in both cities for many years, Tassie is better than those 2. The GC sucks and so does Melbourne. Why would you want to live in this shit hole Melbourne?
Footy bubble that's crime riddled and crap weather, run by idiots.
GC is so much more appealing.
I'm glad to hear this. For guys like West and Buller to develop properly, they need a couple of big, senior players like Cox and McStay in the line-up to occupy the opposition's best key defenders.Odyssey Sports Management’s James Pitcher has offered an update on Mason Cox’s future at Collingwood.
The 34-year-old ruck/forward is currently without a deal at the Magpies and is free to look around at whatever offers he can garner around the competition.
While Cox is yet to be tabled a deal by the Magpies, Pitcher says the club hopes to keep him on their list for 2026 but are simply holding off putting that offer in front of him until they get a clear idea of what list spots they’re looking at.
“I'd like to think he would (get another deal at Collingwood),” Pitcher said on AFL Trade Radio.
“We've had really good chats with Collingwood since really the injury has occurred, that I don't think it's ever been a conversation about him not being there, but it was always going to come down to list spots.
“He had a great exit with Fly (Craig McRae) and Leppa (Justin Leppitsch) last week, and I think they were quite clear, and they want to find a way for him to remain at Collingwood, but it's really going to depend on this upcoming trade period and what potentially happens.
“But, again, his ability to play a role for the team that's quite sacrificial (is big).
“I think he was a really big part of their success in that first two thirds of the season, and he’s done everything to deserve at least another year at the Pies.”
Most of the team was sub par in the second final compared to the first. His final's series was one game where he did a bit and then one where he was thrashed.
They will no doubt have some level of decline but hopefully it won’t be noticeable. Neither rely on the really perishable attributes like explosive pace.To what extent are people here concerned of a potential major drop off by either Sidebottom or Pendleton in 2026?
Just thinking about our midfield and the degree to which we should be going hard for someone (or not, and having a minor slide, but getting some games into developing mids and aiming for the 26/27 draft/trade window)
Steele is glacially-slow and battling multiple injuries. We might as well just have kept Tom Mitchell.Craig Kelly said supporters must accept the recruiting of players who are veterans for short periods. Steele fits that profile. He would contribute at a critical time in terms of transition. A hard player. A leader. I suspect that St Kilda will not pass out any player that is contracted for free.
