I’m talking more about the level of compo received for this particular trade but yes I agree that the system itself is ridiculously flawed. For years I’ve been asking why a compo system rewards both clubs involved in the trade but punishes everyone else. I believe that if you take a free agent the compensation should come from your own draft picks.I’m still blaming the AFL. Why do the other 16 teams have to pay for Carlton losing a player
Carlton would be hugely unlikely to get pick 19 in a trade for him. Oscar Allen situation is the same, clubs are actually in the position that they’d prefer the player to leave because they get better compensation. Absolutely broken system
Yep - St.K should be offering the exact compensation as if it were a F/S or compensation should be scrapped altogether.I’m talking more about the level of compo received for this particular trade but yes I agree that the system itself is ridiculously flawed. This has always been obvious. The reason for it was said to be that long term service should result in being able to move without being at the mercy of clubs’ trading, but an arbitration in the event of a stalemate would have solved it.I’m talking more about the level of compo received for this particular trade but yes I agree that the system itself is ridiculously flawed. Thinking with King & Flanders relationship he chooses Dees over saints.

Battle was 26 Silvagni will be 28 this year, age plays a big partHe got given a similar contract to Battle which landed band 1 compensation, I know he’s a little bit older though. I feel like they would have got band 2 compensation even if he accepted our deal, who knows. Think they secret formula is more based on vibes that actual numbers and figures
I think if they just moved the bands it would solve the issue. Best you can get is end of second round. Teams can still match and force a trade. AFLPA probably wouldn’t sign off on it now. The Frawley, McKay and now Allen picks have been the biggest joke

Have no worries about Zak whatsoever
If Butters enters 2026 as a free agent, literally every club will at least have a discussion.
The only way we consider trading Butters is if they give us Nick Daicos and two bags of cement to harden him up in return.
Pies not on his radar

He’s a top 10 player in the comp with 6-8 years of elite footy ahead of him.
If you don't go hard for ZB then what do you go hard for?
Why would he choose us when he’s from WA, likely got offered more from WC and will actually get games with them?Haha, we couldn't even get Deven Robertson

Dunno if this has been posted already.......
"Travis Boak reveals he would've moved to the Western Bulldogs if he was forced by Port Adelaide to retire at the end of 2023"
Play for a year or two and then move into coaching.

People forget that the main priority of fringe players is to play at AFL level. Robertson has played like 5 games in 2 years. Comes to us and he's behind plenty, goes to WC and likely plays every game.Haha, we couldn't even get Deven Robertson

All I am saying is we better get some players in and not be relying on internal growth because we aren't going up the ladder with that when teams like GC get Petracca, JUH, Rowbottom etc. Yes I know Buderick nominated the dogs.Erasmus is considerably better than Robertson.
