nah, pick #25 is fine and so are the rest of the national draft spots.
just need a team that's above average at talent iD!
2023 afl national draft
- 64 players selected
- 34 have already debuted in 2023
- 17 taken before HDM (pick #25) have debuted
- 17 selected after HDM (pick #25) have debuted
- 10 of 30 yet to debut are KP or rucks and > 197 cms (most > 200cms)
- total 262 games played by 2023 draftees thus far in 2024
- of 262 total games:
- 149 games (57%) for players selected before #25
- 113 games (43%) for players selected after #25
Best chance might be if he can turn into our Osheen MullinIf HDM can please pull a Swanny out of nowhere I’d very much appreciate it thanks.
Unfortunately agree. He looks really nervous and uncomposed at VFL level - hard to imagine that is any better at AFLHonestly, I have t seen anything from this guy that makes me think he has the potential to be an AFL player.
I keep hoping I’m wrong, but there is nothing special about him. He gets the ball but constantly makes the wrong decision in the VFL. Not sure how he will cope in the faster paced AFL. But, if he is still on the list, we can’t die wondering. He needs to play a block of 4 games next season.
Turns out his great strength was his ability to sell himself.Sounds like another bust. Dunno if people remember the hype when he was drafted. Leadership material, had ideas on how to make our premiership side be better, future captain, future cult figure etc. etc. I think I’m being harsh, actually I know I’m being harsh. But sorry, just look at the other boys from the same draft year and what they have already achieved.
And Sheehan gives every fan of all clubs so much hope they drafted someone special. Even at pick 87Turns out his great strength was his ability to sell himself.
Not harsh. They did hype him up-especially the leadership aspect long before he had proven he was worthy of playing one game.Sounds like another bust. Erring towards harsh, but I had a look at it and post 25 it looks a decent draft. Ignoring the club aligned players and the one I’ve had up to my back teeth seeing discussed we have the likes of Freijah, Roberts, Mannagh, Fonti and Humphries all looking 150+ gamers. I’m beginning to suspect he’s all sizzle and no steak myself on the basis of early feedback because poor composure at VFL level rarely translates to much at AFL level.Sounds like another bust. The only issue I have is that he’s getting judged as a 1st rounder which he is in the loosest sense. Once you hit the 20’s on draft night things start to get speculative so whilst we’re edging closer to “bust” territory I’d just chalk this one up as a run of the mill miss if he doesn’t get there.

If his decision making is poor, then maybe not. We also already have so many defensive stocks, I will keel over if we see another draftee thrown down back. He has to figure it out in the middle.could he be tried elsewhere on the ground, eg defence?
When 11 other Clubs also pass on a player it suggests that there were concerns at the time. Hindsight now suggests they were unfounded- that’s life. This one might hurt for a long time
Yep agree.I’m tipping some senior games for HDM next year.
