Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I dont think GC wanting Trac will hurt us in race for Humphrey. If Humphrey wants to leave he'll pick who he wants to play for. We can do a deal and so can Melbourne, so shouldn't be a problem either way.
Charlie to Sydney for pick 11, their F1, and Haywood
TDK Compo and pick 11 to GC17 for Humphrey and their F1.
Pick 6 to Melbourne for Trac.

By all reports he has been promised a spot in our backline
He's a utility player. He can play either end. He might end up being a defender long term, but we're looking at him as a third tall forward next year while Kemp finishes his rehab from his achilles.

I wonder if EB giving the cross against Humphrey has now been superseded, or Humphrey was always leaving but just not to Carlton
Humphrey himself doesn’t even know which club he wants to go to just yet if any, not sure how we expect EB to have picked it a couple of days ago..

Petracca picking the GC will kick start how the Suns make any further player/pick trades.

Think whoever gave EB the info was going off what the Suns and manager had told people (including the clubs) which as we've found out today is a load of bullshit the level we've rarely seen.

It'll play out over the weekend.

I just hope he doesn't pick Collingwood as it would be a massive piece of their post-Pendles and Sidebottom puzzle.

Not sure how pies can get the trade done.

Obvious club is Melbourne just because of trac, but he doesn’t want to go the dees then I guess we have a shot

Guess we will know if we are a chance if we meet with him. Odd that we have been named in all the reports about him but nothing about a meeting yet like we saw with Dees/Pies today

I’d like to think the Suns would want to deal with a club that offers them the best deal in terms of a quality player and picks if it agrees to trade Humphrey - and on that basis its more likely that would be Carlton rather than Collingwood or even Hawthorn.

I believe that we've already had meetings (or at least conversations) with him.

This is part of what I was told the weekend before the Brownlow

Ah okay cool - at the very least we can say we tried. Much better than sitting on our hands. Would be a great addition to the list if we were lucky enough to get him

I think the Suns and player managers are more likely to push Flanders to Melbourne for Petracca than Humphrey.

Depends how much lower than ESS/STK their offer is.

Would make things very comfortable for them.

I don't know who else we've been in communications with but have been told that we're leaving no stone unturned.

We've been incredibly active which after the last two years (Lij and Fantasia; Haynes and Frank while losing most of our depth) is very good to see/hear

I agree that's great to hear

Thats my thinking. Would allow us to get out of the Harry Dean "hit zone".

Walk away with Pick 3/4, Dean + Ison from the draft.
If the deal looks anything like that, I want something other than just 2 and Chesser back, especially if we're sending off Acres, because we could use him ahead of some of our forward options we seem happy to fill the bench with.

I've seen this valuation of Humphrey for a few hours now, and if the club is reading this, I want to be very clear: **** that.

Do not make that deal, do not even entertain it. There is no valuation of Humphrey where that makes any sense. He would have to transform into a star midfielder for that to make sense.

That deal is horrifically bad for the future of this football club and helps neither Voss nor any reboot or rebuild.

They essentially swapped Marshall for TDK and will receive a 1st round pick (Geelong's). TDK also much younger so has way more years left.

Marshall out -> TDK, 1st Rd pick in.

Pretty smart business.

Regardless, the compo picks give us some good leverage to make moves either for our F/S prospects or to attack trades. The freed up salary cap is a bonus too.
Strategy is smart but cost makes it a poor trade. Esp for a ruckman. Be int to see how it plays out. We do well out of it as well cap and pick wise.

Humphrey is going to be that star player. Maybe as early as next year.

If we could get him for what would essentially be a single first round pick and a slight upgrade that would be unbelievable value. He is a 2 firsts++ player who will have every Victorian club throwing the kitchen sink at him and rightly so.

He’s not a two firsts ++ player. Butters is. Humphrey hasn’t done anything yet. He’s being valued on potential.

All players are valued on potential. He will end up that level of player for the next 10 years.

Not to mention he is contracted and it is a below average draft where GC have academy kids to pick up (the exact same logic we send back the other way with Curnow).

How would they pay for him?

Coxilla?

If you could design the prototype modern superstar it's Humphrey. Every team would kill for him. I think unfortunately the successful clubs like Hawthorn and Collingwood will lure him.
