Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Maybe. But why would Humphrey want to leave a team who played finals and is on the rise for a team going full scorched earth rebuild losing Trac, Oliver, May, McVee etc? We would be a more attractive destination than the Dees. Albeit, I think he stays at GC. Think with JUH likely making his way to GC they're more likely to release one of their forwards.

Played under Steven King when he was caretaker coach in 2023.

Didnt help Melbourne get Flanders, and that's despite the Trac nomination.

Although I guess each relationship is different. Humphrey and King could be super tight or Humphrey might could think King is hopeless. Cant know from the outside.

I reckon we can win the flag next year. I can't believe so many people are talking bottom 4 let alone bottom 2. Very pessimistic. Being positive has served me very well over the years so who knows, maybe I'm just a dreamer
I dunno what you saw last year to suggest that we could even make the finals let alone win the flag. Best 22 players are leaving (mainly TDK) and at this stage we haven't been linked with any like-for-like imo. Plus, one of our biggest, if not our biggest, marketable asset – a 2x Coleman winner – is desperate to leave. It appears we're not a destination club anymore, the players we're linked with are not really world beaters. I know Humphrey's name has been thrown about but it seems that's more media talk than anything. Why would he want to come to Carlton?

I personally think we're in for another painful slog of a year, at least until Voss is given his marching orders. I really hope I'm proven wrong but my opinion (based on nothing but my own observation) is that the club has some issues and not everything is chocolates and rainbows.

Flanders was also chucked into the guts when King took over where he stayed for all of 2024….still didn’t want to go and play at Melbourne underneath him

Hoping we get minimum 1 quality signing this silly season, but again cant see it happening the establishment has been poisoned and no one wants to near with Voss at the helm!!!! 2026 is going to be should of got rid of Voss at 2025!!! Im hoping im wrong

Like I've been saying, we need to reset the list.

GW (and CD now) would know exactly where we're at.

It's a bitter pill because we've spent so much on the last rebuild but it is what it is.

We weren't going to sack Voss to bring in someone like Longmire for example when the list needs a reset...

Instead, we give Voss a new bunch of assistants, if the results don't come (and we all know they won't including GW) then we don't renew Voss end of 2026, we bring in a highly regarded assistant who hasn't been a head coach before (Hickmott, Skipworth as examples) we have a host of picks at the draft and we say, right off you go, build a premiership team.

With the right people and leadership, we can actually establish a proper culture with high standards that are enforced at all times...

Should be able to start contenting by 2030.

Ok. Didn’t Hayward just say he likes Vossy..?

My long term concern is the evidence is forming that Carlton can not attract quality estabkished players and coaches. Trying to remain calm.....but....
You’d rather overpay for B-C+ talent like Saints and build a middle of the road team for 5+ years ? Guess that would satisfy most members.

To those saying Humphrey is not worth 2x first rounders (ESPECIALLY in a weaker draft) whilst being contracted till 2028 are delusional.

As stated by a poster earlier, all the clubs can see where his talent is going, hence why there's already 4 big Victorian clubs after him (will likely be more soon)

IF the Suns would take 2 firsts in the current draft, you do that every day of the week.

If the Dawks don't get Merrett, I guarantee you they'll be giving two firsts for Humphrey.
So if Curnow is involved who gets extra us or GC?? Because Curnow is worth three firsts+ in this draft.

I remember a conversation between SOS and The hosts of footy classified (mainly Caro) where he said he could easily make a middle Of the road team to play finals but it takes much more commitment to the draft if you were to win the whole thing and be successful for long periods.

Hence why he did what he did with us. Got into the first round heavily. But with saint kilda what the **** is he doing. Satisfying the member base to get to finals and lose in the elimination final. Because that’s where he is headed. This year is a weak draft so it’s understandable it’s not the time to draft heavily but I wouldn’t be doing what they’re doing either.

However, if it works. What the **** was he doing for 5 years at Carlton.

We don’t have the cap space and Voss doesn’t have any long term security.

We will be a much more attractive prospect in 12 months time. More cap space and some clarity on coaching and game plan. All things being equal we are still a destination club but we’ve hamstrung ourselves over the last 2 years.

We just found about 1.8 million in cap space yesterday, and that’s without taking into account a possible Charlie move.

Curnow’s value off field is worth far more than Humphrey … he attracts membership and sponsorship.

We're the Carlton Football Club.

Not a tiddly winks club reliant on players to bring in members

The monogram is enough to sell memberships.

The club is bigger than any player.

We’ve had players falling into FA & getting massive overs to jump ship..

Hopefully the players have been informed that their performances have not been up to scratch & leadership has been shown to be less than adequate. Jump on board or FRO.

Other names mooted to depart =
Charlie (poor attitude)
Acres (the smiling ball assassin)
McGovern (will you contest, FFS)
EH (pity but still hopeful)
Binns (opportunity but disposal issues)

No objections to the previous delistings.

The club has been pretty stable until the Sayers shenanigans, GW/RP/CD/MV pillars to build & unite again.
Need Inness to build the HP ability of the squad better as well.

Good plan just that he was shown as unable to execute it at the draft (where it mattered + trades). Proved to be a bust as a list manager, like most of his draft choices.

Despite the botched picks, we ended up with enough talent.
The much bigger problem was the coaching in 2019-21 which completely wasted 3 years of development and progression, and the poor culture of the team and club.

We should have had much more success than we did with the list that we had.

Anyone who thinks saints aren't doing a fantastic job this off season are kidding themselves.
True but proof is in the pudding

They need make the 8 in 2026 minimum
