As good as he is, 3 first rounders is quite a lot (not as bad if we can manage a couple of top 4 finishes over 2026 & 2027).

Could we satisfy Port with pick 10, a F1 and two second rounders? Possibly using one of the second rounders to snag pick 6 this year instead.

Half the under 15s league names in the western region is named after the dogs
Given it was clearly our heartland with those from the inner west moving out, then also our merged VFL club until we went alone and our focus till 2014, yes would have thought so.

A decade later and we are giving another club an opportunity there

When hasn't he stood up in a big game?
He averaged 17 disposals in our losses this year and only had over 10 kicks in 1 of the 9

He wasn’t “the” issue but he’s one of a few that look great against the poor teams but don’t impact when needed in big games

If you could tell me then his best game this year then if you disagree I’d love to know

It looks like we're looking at different things when making that assessment.

I look to players who crack under pressure when determining if they're not worth their weight in gold. Players who have a tendency to make errors in crunch time. Gowers in his second last game for us is one that immediately comes to mind, making an error inside the final minute which almost cost us the game.

Williams' role isn't to be a match winner. It never has been. He is reliable and plays his role. He does that well. It's not often he has brain farts. 2021 Grand Final comes to mind but that was years ago now and he wasn't alone on that night. He has improved since then and hasn't shown any signs of going backwards yet.

Cant wait to see his Yo-yo, agility and 20m sprint results. He seems average in all of these in the eye test. Got footy IQ but I worry about how damaging he can be at AFL level without elite athletic traits.

Charlie Clarke being a good example of someone who had a similar under 18 year
Understand your concern and there are plenty of unknowns.

Dovaston averages more tackles and goals per game in u18's than Charlie Clarke did, other than that relatively similar stats.

Also for Vic Metro he continued that trend of averaging more goals and tackles than Clarke.

Also worth noting as a 17yo earlier this year Dovaston made his debut against the eventual VFL Premiers and had 18 touches and kicked 1.3.

Didn't seem out of place and seems a bit more advanced at the same age than Charlie Clarke was, but yes will be interesting to see and know more after testing.

I have no opinion on or knowledge of who the legit ITKs are here but I’m surprised at how confident a lot of people here are that Butters will choose us when a big-name player has pretty much never done that, at least not since I’ve been old enough to remember. It’s going to be pretty embarrassing for us if he chooses Hawthorn, Collingwood or Geelong as those players always seem to do.

Williams has plenty of brain farts the game at the Gabba we were getting momentum back tries a risky kick to a 3 on 1 which was a poor idea in the wet slices it off his boot out on the full quick kick to Morris who was goalless at the time and bang momentum crushed

Again he isn’t a good or bad player that is the difference on a weekly occurrence but to suggest he shouldn’t be involved in a trade for Butters is silly

To be fair, I never said he shouldn't be involved in a trade for Butters. I said I'd hate to lose Williams. I.e. Why couldn't we keep Williams and still get Butters?

I know this isn't related to anything you posted, but why does it have to be a SA player involved? The only reason anyone would want to return back to SA is because of family. There's nothing else attracting a player to return to that shithole.

Finished 1st in the Agility with the third fastest time on record.
