There wouldn’t be much change out of $2m per season either over a lengthy contract.

The same currency from Curnow could help unlock the likes of Robey and Walker for the next 15 years on a fraction of the salary along with a very accomplished player in Hayward.

Cripps and Walsh leading Smith, Robey and Walker through the midfield is the kind of firepower I’ve got my eyes on …

I think Butters could be obtained for somewhere close to what we were willing to offer TDK (maybe a bit more).

We would still have the salaries of Charlie, JSos, McGovern freed up for future recruitment.

My thoughts were we still have to spend a minimum amount of the salary cap each year so might as well be a Butters type if he becomes available.

I'm not worried about the next 15 years right now. Butters brings us close to the Premiership Holy Grail while we still have the likes of Cripps, Walsh, McKay and Weitering. We have some good young players and add Dean and Walker its still a good future whilst maintaining a now possibility.

How does Butters get to be 25/26 when he turned 25 last month. Put Butters, Jagga, Walsh, Cooper Lord as defensive mid/extractor. Walker as half forward/mid along with a few years of Cripps, Hewett and Cerra whilst Walker and Jagga mature and you would have an absolute monster well balanced midfield for a very long time.

I reckon put a line through Walsh if we get Butters...

You reckon Walsh will stick around when we pay Butters 2M+ for 8 years + while we don't come anywhere near that for Walsh?

He's a FA next year too mate and 3 clubs are already circling...

And if you still think we'll give Walsh a big contract as well, ask yourself why GW would want to free up cap space only to have 2 players take up what we've freed and then some... we'll be back where we were with no money to chase anyone else and lack of depth...

Because he is a bright prospect that provides run we sorely lack off HB/wing. One of the players you know will always play for the jumper as well. Shown some great signs in his career so far.

Cannot think of a possible reason to trade him.

Unless he had had good experiences with a coach he was familiar with and trusted a football manager that he knew well and maybe had played a lot of games with an assistant coach (assumes Boak). Remember it turned out that Houston actually wanted to come to us because he liked Voss. We might not pay the most but we could possibly front load a bloody good amount and we could actually have the picks to make it happen.

I know people rate him but I just don't see it.

He is an ok player, nothing to get upset about if he stays or leaves.

If someone wants him he will be gone.
