Oh no! An assault with a feather incoming.

I thought Cook may have finally turned the corner in the game vs the Dogs and then he had his standard MIA/non-competitive/Under 15's game against Hawthorn where we effectively playing one man down.

I reckon Luke Jericho showed more promise than Cook and he was terrible.

The last time there was a bigger tease than Cook was when my mates sister walked into the lounge room wearing a short skirt and a G.

There was some stiff competition for her attention that day

It's a good laugh that Melbourne keep saying that they need something to turn their heads to trade Petracca. They know they will get a good trade trade from the Gold Coast with picks, they are pushing him out

Interesting that Justin Reid said we took the call on Petracca. Definitely sounded like we weren't interested in taking in his contract or the trade.

We were, but price matters. Sounded more like Demons aren’t talking crap when they say the offer will need to turn their heads.

I think we expected it to be our first round pick this year only.

Once Melbourne started saying pick 14, F1 and Rachele we realized we weren’t aligned on value, regardless of how much haggling so dropped out.

Pre season I was and even more now a huge wrap for Mark Keane, was desperate for us to re sign him and had piss taken for calling him an elite intercept defender in the making.
Pragmatically now I would be dangling him up for trade as we could just get very lucky if a club wants to offer big for
this type of player.
We have Worrell and Keane, both are not needed with Butts rotting in the two’s.
Just an opportunity to re distribute our wealth on field so to speak.

Stats for players having played 10 games minimum, Butts surprised me with spoils, 1v1’s and disposal efficiency.

You lost me and I hope the rest of the board as soon as you mentioned Toby Pink.
You don't think Pink can be a backup and step in for a half dozen games a year?

We need a backup key position defender and a high upside midfielder.

Butts is one of the few player assets we have, but if we trade him we need a reasonable backup.

It's fine to say not to trade him, but we have few draft assets so it would be irresponsible to not consider it. A d I say that as someone who thinks Butts should play before Murray.

We are one of the clubs with the most long term contracts

You do realise that the list is alphabetical 😁?

Looking at the number of contracts greater than 3 years we are ranked 7th with 7 player contracts. Even Collingwood have 8 player contracts that are 3 years plus but in all fairness this is to ensure their players can move seamlessly onto an old age pension.

So….. what point were you trying to make?

Toby Pink hails from the South East so fits the Not-Melbourne vibe

His numbers - while raw - are comparable to Butts

They have also lifted this year

I have no other view on his ability
Pink is a downgrade on Jordan Butts who at this stage has shown no interest in being traded despite there being strong rumours of him being courted by several clubs. Unless this changes anytime soon I don't see the point personally. Is there any talk at all of Pink having any interest from other clubs I'm not aware of? Therein lays the story.

Just putting up the numbers

pink is garbage. in our case borlase is not AFL standard. do not trade butts. we are one injury away from disaster.
plus there are rumours keane might go back to ireland early.

we can trade any of the following if they have any value at all. these are the only ones:

ROB (only if a ruckman is coming as well)
berry
sholl
jones
taylor
bond
borlase

I seriously doubt Keane is heading back to Ireland anytime soon, there is no way he can earn anything like the money he's currently guaranteed playing AFL. More chance he field offers from other AFL clubs than heading back to Ireland until his AFL playing days are done.

With Tasmania coming in ....isn't good we have so many players accepting long-term Contracts ......seems like good business to me

When was the last PS campaign, where threads were dominated by posters believing X, Y, or Z, was going to leave .....and why hadn't we contracted them

So, are you complaining ?

His stint in the AFL will set him up for life back home ......how long that is, maybe 6 years ....or until a buba comes along

None. I just thought it was an interesting and condensed look at how each club stands

The list is alphabetical, but the colour coding in the right hand column shows how far above the average we are. Adelaide's players are contracted for 1.9 more years than the AFL average. Only GWS (2.2 years above average) & Freo (2.0 years) players are contracted for longer, on average.

You are correct about us having 7 players with 4 or more years remaining on their contract, and this being equal 7th most. Of these 7 players, 3 still have 5 or more years left on their contracts - only GWS & Freo have more players in this bracket. Further, Fogarty's contract (which still has 8 years remaining is the equal 2nd longest current contract in the AFL.

As for the point... The current situation with Melbourne's Oliver & Petracca contracts highlight the risks associated with signing players to very long contracts. Sometimes it works out well for both sides (e.g. Alastair Lynch's famous 10-year contract with the Brions), but there are big risks for the club if things turn sour.

I was responding to Scorpus.

Thank you Vader for stating the bleeding obvious.

P.S. Have you had your sarcasm detector serviced recently?
