Ahh Max's stint at NLS meant the gap in racing wasn't too bad - it's already Race Week again!

I have mixed feelings on the Singapore track. Timeslot is great, the OG night race, I don't like the layout especially when they bring back the stadium section in the third sector. I suck at driving this track in the F1 games. Precious memories for Seb and his last ever victory. Carlos giving fans something to pay attention to in the middle of the RBR domination in 2023.

so hoping the double binning in the last gp hasn't adversely affected oscar's calmness and focus. i'll be relieved when the singapore gp is done and dusted.

Not a fan of reunions. They never seem to turn out like you hope they will. But I told someone I'd put this in social media platforms I'm a member of and I am nothing but honest in doing what I tell friends I'll do for them.

So here it is - more of interest for those in Adelaide of course.

Going straight up King William and down Currie... As bad as it is for traffic in the East end, that would have been a lot worse! My old walk to work would have come up in the middle of the circuit from the Train Station to Grenfell.

Think I've stated before in this thread that I was a recent graduate working in the SA Premier's Dept who did some work on this early development. My role was nothing more than a glorified correspondence clerk to be honest and I knew f-all about motorsport which I think was the common denominator with all of us. But we all knew this was something that could be big and we wanted to be a part of i t.

Just wish I kept a copy of some of the stuff that was being considered as options in those days. Hilarious stuff looking back now I know a bit about the sport. They're on file somewhere. Hope they get released one day because the memories of Hemmerling and others who led the process certainly aren't improving. And my recollection of Hemmerling is that he had a certain Walter Mitty quality to him even at his peak - perhaps that's what enamoured him to Ecclestone?

Edit: And as someone who got to work as a host in the 'Premier's Suite' above the pits on that very first Adelaide GP I have a lot of surreal memories of the celebrities and guests but not one record of any of it - not just because it was before the era of mobiles but because as staff we were under strict instructions not to take a picture of anything. Heck I was told in no uncertain terms I couldn't even get autographs on my program. And have to say that makes the memories of what happened even brighter and realistic without any sense of fake selfie BS. After the race a few of us scrambled downstairs and walked the pits as the after race madness settled in. One of my co-workers took her camera with her and - maybe because she was an attractive young woman of Italian descent but that's just a guess - the team of JPS Lotus let her sit in Ayrton Senna's actual iconic #12 race car for a picture. FMD how lucky was she? And then there was Molly Meldrum(who was a driver in the first celebrity race - remember them) getting me to be his accomplice to grab some beers from the special sealed off bar being used by Hawke and other VIPs because the line up of the other bars was too long.

A reminder of why that very first GP in Australia was so flipping special - somehow that first race was as much about us as Australians and our lack of respect for tradition than it was about the F1 circus protocols. Hasn't that changed?

Thankfully the early GP swing is finally over (for me in Dublin) and I can get back to watching them once the daughter is asleep. Hopefully by the start of next season she's more able to look after herself (will be nearly 1 and a half by the time the season starts).

Not our most convincing weekend, but another Constructor's title in the bank. Happy days indeed.

It’s kind of bitter sweet atm

To think where they have come from a few years back to now is incredible

Go back and watch those episodes of DTS when they were struggling

But yeh this Drivers Championship this year is a real grind between Lando and Oscar
