2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

1 2 7 looks good - we get Duursma Sharp and Cumming. Solve our midfield

Alternatively we split 2+17 for 5+6 then bundle up the Ryan F2 from Saints with Chesser plus 24 and 38 for 10. Hit the draft with 1 5 6 10. Gets us Duursma Sharp (fallback Robey), Schubert and Cumming.

Or we split and stay put. 1 5 6 24 38 gets us Duursma Sharp Cumming Curtin and hold 38 if needed on Tyler or bank forward on draft night and we have future value in Chesser and Ryan trades.

Each year we get out bid on the Suns picks. I’d like to trade up but not for their usual premium. Besides, it will depend on the Petracca deal.

Unless you want CDT (and I’ve heard Bomber do), the draft looks pretty even from 3 to 10. There will also be some decent options in the 10-20 range and another grouping in the 20 to 30 range.

This is probably a dumb position to take, but I’d rather have the first pick in the second round than the last pick in the first round (assuming that these are actually concurrent and not actually 5 picks apart due to compensation shenanigans and what not). My reasoning is that having the first pick in the second round is quite valuable because after the dust settles from night 1, teams will go back and have a look at their draft board and there’s a decent chance that some idiot team like North will be so enamoured with a kid who slid out of the first round that they’ll make a dumb trade (including their F1) to be guaranteed to get that kid with the opening pick.
If you trade with Gold Coast, then both picks are being used up in matching bids anyway.

And it’s North who will hold the first (and second) pick of the second round. Unless they also trade their two picks up for a mid first round pick.

Give me a good mid over Walter any day. What he'd cost vs what he's accomplished isn't worth it at this stage of our rebuild
Take Curtin with an early second rounder if you're desperate for a kpf
Rogers would fit our midfield perfectly

Walter will be a beast and Jake Rogers isn’t being spoken enough about, we could offer him a great deal. After trading for Starcevich with pick 23, I would happily trade pick 2,17,24,38 to GCS for pick 7, Walter and Rogers with a promise not to bid at pick 1.

IN:
1-Duursma
7-Sharp
Walter
Rogers
Starcevich

GCS can then take a player before their picks, use it for points or trade it for Petracca.

FWIW there is no stress coming from the Eagles camp.
Speak for yourself Pants, its ****ing DEFCON 1 in this joint.

OUR WORST FEARS ARE COMING TO FRUITION EVERYBODY PANIC AND FREAK OUT

Sad Alex Jones GIF

Any trade we do with Brisbane is independent of any deals with GC, so you can’t just assume they both get up when approaching the other.

What is the Cambell Chesser trade looking like with Carlton?
Carlton must have made an openning offer by now. The fact that we aren't hearing anything and Clarke spent a bit of time giving a spiel about how Chesser is a first rounder with 4 years and 50 games of development pumped into him and we will be quite happy to just not trade him etc etc makes me think that we are not all that jazzed by what we are hearing from Carlton.

Last I saw, the 2 parties are pretty far apart on that, and then curiously it was stated that the Eagles 'hadn't given up hope of retaining...' first time I've ever seen that suggested.

So that was an interesting one. I'd rather retain him - we will get VERY little for him in a trade - 3rd Rounder at best.

I did say “IF you trade with Gold Coast”. Mainly because such a trade has been mentioned/discussed by your management team.

So if both trades go through, there’s a fair chance both 22 and 23 get eaten up by matching academy bids.

I’m just interested in where the trade lands.

As far as I’m concerned, the Allen offer and Starcevich trade should have been done by now.

I’m not trying to defend how my club is playing this out. More trying to offer some views from the Lions side. Most here believe the Lions are being d!cks with how this is playing out, but a minority here are sort of on the same page as me.
There is an outside chance the AFL has asked the 2 clubs to play out a feud publicly, so that when the band 1 compo drops (and other clubs get annoyed) the narrative is muddied.

It’s probably all agreed behind the scenes, but being PR managed.

Been saying all year this was coming… Rosa has told Clarke he wants pick 1. Seems like we are posturing for 1 for 5,6 (if at all).

If they want it, cough it up. 1 for 5 6 and peanuts.

Get 7 off suns.

2 5 6 7

Sounds good but not overly realistic

Alright piss away folks.

We weren’t using the pick anyway in the ideal scenario of a trade up with GC, so whatever the other swaps are had better leave that on the table.

If not, ridiculous overpay for a guy I’m really really high on.
