2025 Draft Order

Current Draft Picks:
Round 1: 1, 2, 13
Round 2: 34, 41
Round 3: 53, 58 (These picks are in excess of available list spots so will be forfeited if we don’t consolidate our 2025 picks up the order or trade some for future picks)

List Spots Available (39 of 48):
• Main list (33 of 38) - 5* (in: Starcevich, Young out: Allen, Ryan, Chesser, Hunt, Petruccelle, Jamieson)
• Cat A rookie list (5 of 8) - 3* (in: Robertson (pending), out: Rawlinson)
• Cat B rookie list (1 of 2) - 2 (out: Livingstone)

* Based on Dewar being upgraded after the maximum 3 years on the rookie list. Hutchinson may also have been upgraded but this isn’t confirmed - if it is we will have 4 main and 4 rookie list spots open

* Matthew Clarke has stated we have 5 main list spots

Matt Clarke wraps up the trade period - 6PR

My guess is this signals either we think we retain enough capital to trade up to at least Carlton’s pick if not GC, while upgrading 16 to 12, OR a definite trade down of 1 to 5+6 with other picks thrown around with the bombers.
Yeah - I would hope we have future trades planned for either Carlton or Gold Coast picks. And those deals work either with 16 or with 23 and whatever extra draft capital we pick up here.

So essentially nothing has changed.

'Hope' being the operative word there.

My guess is:

WCE Receive: 12, Starcevich
WCE Give: 16, 23, 37

Brisbane Receive: 16
Brisbane Give: Starcevich, 43

Freo Receive: 23, 37, 43
Freo Give: 12

It's not awful, not great but not awful.

Would give us approx 190 points extra over the value of pick 7 to entice Gold Coast if we offered them 13 and 24. (after Allen Compo)

Not sure how we pay for Young though.

Hey friends, curious to hear your thoughts on the proposed potential pick swap of 1/2 for 5 & 6? Essendon are only doing that trade if it ensures we get Duursma, we aren't doing it for CDT.

Is that something you think the club will be interested in or you prefer just to take Duursma and CDT straight up?

Depends on how much we value Duursma, I guess.

Come back later, we're mid meltdown.

Many of us would prefer NOT to take Duursma and CDT. We want mids.

I don’t think my view represents the majority of eagles supporters but depending on the steak knives like an F2, I’d be trading 1 for 5&6. Hopefully 2 goes to Richmond for 4 as well ;)

Duursma has shot to clear outright favourite number 1.

This year that matters considering how diluted the top 5 of the draft is and in particular the draft as a total.

If you offer 5+6 straight up we might consider it but i doubt we'll have anything left to throw in coming back your way if that's what you're thinking.

For sure, what's the fan consensus on your end? Sounds like he has elevated himself to #1 but its not as clear cut as previous years with a Reid or JHF as stand out number 1. We seem very keen on him though.
Depends how in the 'clear' he is at #1.

I know people keep crying out for mids but when you have pick 1, you'd better be taking the most talented player in the draft, regardless of position. He'll transition into a mid when he puts more size on anyway.

I'd say it's more the gap between him and the rest of the top 10. If it's not considered to be all that big, I can see WCE trading back to get Sharp/Cumming.
