And as head of the AFLPA has wanted the length of quarters shortened, which would have directly contributed to his style of play (high impact, low endurance) and age. How is this not called out more? The conflict of interest is sky high but because he works for one of the biggest media conglomerates no one calls him out on it?

They’re players. Literally anyone who is in charge of the Players Association if they’re a player will have a conflict of interest.

I still don't understand why homophobic and misogynistic social media posts are unpunished by the AFL, but homophobic comments in a game are punished with 5 game suspensions?

all these incidents are different, but all are horrendous in their own ways...there is something off about the way the incidents are being treated by the AFL

Good luck if you can keep track of what is and isn't punishable and what constitutes "offence" anymore

It’s more Geelong. They have many people in and out of AFL house, but it’s mostly the media. Gerard Whately was losing his mind over Isaac Rankine and saying he should get 6 weeks and torching the Adelaide Advertiser for defending Rankine. Yet is silent over Smith, not just now but all year. The abuse of the photographer was the worst and he didn’t miss any games because of it??

No it’s the hypocrisy that people can’t understand. I’m not as hard on Rankine or Smith, but there is no way what Rankine said on field was worse than Smith’s abuse of a photographer. Both wrong, one gets off one gets nothing.

and most of the time it's counter-productive too, it just pushes Geelong into positions they shouldn't be in and leads to what we saw on GF day; another big game capitulation.
 
It was way early in this thread, but I need to amend the initial comments I made.

I was in full support of Geelong and defending the concept of Mad Monday costumes and pushing the boundaries etc, however this was before I'd seen any of the Bailey Smith social media comments.

I will not support his ignorance or arrogance.

Should have known better.

The fact he has received no punishment is criminal.
