2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

I'd be more ok with a future first and hope for Geelong to fail next year. Won't be too much different - am always cheering for their downfall. Still, feels like Geelong would be getting yet another gun player in another trade period and yet again cheaply. There is nothing that would get on my nerves more than to get scammed by Geelong FC
Death riding Geelong when they just made the granny could mean for a disappointing year.

Worpel and Marshall address two absolute weaknesses in their line-up. Imagine if they do get Curnow... its a better draft next year but any draft pick associated with Geelong will be late teens next year.

I hope we don't fold. SDK, or a pick to get a player we haven't been linked to please.

We need to stop thinking about it being flag or bust 27-29. This needs to be a 10-year sustainable plan. I'm only in favour of trading out firsts in a weak draft like this year (plus we will land another one for Marshall be it this or next year) or for a gun like Butters.

The only way to find the next Nas is via the draft and ideally early picks.

The thing I'm happiest about with our approach this year is that we are likely to land TDK, JSOS, Flanders, Aleer and Ryan for a single first rounder. If you include losing Marshall in that it's only a 10 pick downgrade at worst.
Quality post

Yep.
We’ve literally been telling anyone who’ll listen what our plan is for the last 4-5 years and still nobody is listening/absorbing.
Can understand it from room-temp Big Footy posters, but not from the media. It’s pathetic.

We have been a badly run club for 15 years. Every club talks big and most fail to deliver on it. We haven’t earned respect or relevance either.

It will take time to make people see us as anything but a novelty until it translates to on field success. Richmond, the Dogs and Melbourne had to win a flag to change perceptions.

We have slapped a few people awake and made the media look up. Now we need to win games to do the next bit.

I don’t mind being underestimated from
Outsiders . It will make it more fun to watch them suffer later.

That photo never ceases to crack me up.

Far out how did we let that spud and Danny F'in Sexton run our footy dept for 6 years?
Sexton was bloody Teflon, how long did he skate around in the shadows at our club and how did he manage it??

I remember coming out of the B&F one year at Crown and I was behind him on the escalator, and all that kept running through my head was "how the hell do you keep your job ?".......

Canned Corn says a lot of things...........none of them are worth listening to......

Footy media is saturated and the only way to make people look is to set off grenades. People need to enjoy it for its creativity and not take it too seriously. It’s 90% fiction designed to set off people’s anxieties. Korn is one of the best at setting nuffy traps. Ross talks about feeding the chooks but Korn is more of a smart arse kid that feeds laxatives to seagulls and sits back to watch the fall out.

Sam Edmund raised Jordan DeGoey on Agenda Setters, although seemed like he was regurgitating information with no intel "could they go there again?" type thing

Honestly don’t think he’s too far wrong. Ro will be 30 next year and his body and form has been below his best the last 12 months. If we were offering a first for ruckman with a similar profile I’d be flat. The fact we’re potentially getting a first is great for us.
I agree. This years first is a satisfactory outcome.
