Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

How would an AFL player with around 150 games experience and multiple top 10 best and fairest finishes, compare to a VFL player?

Depends on a few things:

1. Humphrey being open / preferencing Carlton (seriously, get Cripps in front of Bailey now)
2. Ainsworth's value in a deal as a salary cap dump

George played VFL last year didn’t he?
FA on less coin vs salary dump so there’s a difference on the trade scenario & outlook.

Florent isn’t the same makeup as GH.

Ainsworth, if/when he stands up, all the better. Only serviceable but overpaid so far in his career for GC to hold onto VIC players.

Whilst I don’t wish injury on anyone, his body has been incredibly resilient for someone that is a target every week. At some stage he’ll miss a block of games, Walsh had a very resilient body for quite a few years before he didn’t.
This game is brutal on the body and the mind, will be interesting to see how the pies go when it inevitably happens

Im not sure why the Suns are tbh. There are clubs I think would be better placed to take the risk and who need him more. Not sure its worth it for them.

Sure - just saying that it doesn't necessarily matter if a Charlie deal got done at the death, if the plan is then to trade picks around to achieve a certain range of picks. The pick swaps operate on a different timeline.

I've never seen him play or even know what he looks like but he is now the single most important player in my 50 plus year history of following VFL/AFL football

So you're trading a generational talent for two picks to allow us to get draftees that we would get regardless (Dean, Ison and Cody) and Hayward. And you are sending back a 3rd rounder in a strong draft for fun.
How about we get Dean, Ison and Cody anyway, keep Curnow and our 3rd rounder. Get the Hayward equivalent in Ainsworth for much cheaper and then have a long hard look in the mirror that we considered the first option.

Im absolutely unconvinced Carlton want to keep Curnow at all. Im absolutely convinced Carlton want to trade him as their first choice option
