So a four pick upgrade from 16 to 12 cost us a 10 pick downgrade in the 2nd round? Didn't even cost a 2nd rounder?

That is simply incorrect.

A two pick upgrade late in the 1st round costs a 2nd rounder. That is what history and facts tell us. Not guessing....a historical fact shown multiple times.

And you think a 4 pick upgrade only cost half a 2nd rounder?

That simply isn't logical nor what happened.

Have you got any historical facts shown multiple times that weren’t live draft day trades?

I think they’re a different prospect, the club is trading to get a particular player rather than a slightly better lottery ticket.

On points value (admittedly only a rough guide), 12 and 33 for 16 and 22 is about evens. 12 on its own for 16 and 22 is a big discrepancy.

Hey Keys HoneyBadger35 and other mods - I have a proposal

Can we set up another thread for posters that want to bitch about history, be it the Kelly trade, the Baker trade, etc.

Call it “stuck in the past” and you simply shift their posts to that thread and get rid of historical negativity.
I have a sort of thread for that. It's called the ignore list, and it's growing daily.

Steak knives won't make up that difference.

Are they like gold plated?

Moving up from 3 to 2 would cost a low 2nd plus extra.

You want to trade a low 2nd for Young?

We have pick 37 or 52 for Young.

I don't nerd out on draft picks, values and all that shit. I'm more interested in the negotiation and leveraging of positions to benefit ourselves.

So with that said, curious as to whether Tigers would look at jumping ahead of a pick trade between us and Bombers, and whether that deal would look more enticing than what the Bombers may offer.

The long play being that we might not cough up a pick for Young (and despite plenty here believing he's worth something in the 50s, outside of this bubble he's considered 35-40), whilst also retaining 12 and adding more value in later picks to do a swap with GC.

How about we stop compromising our top picks to help other clubs out and tell richmond they can take a pick in the 50s for their out of contract, rookie listed 27 year old defender who played 9 games this season.

This isn't charity. If we can get Duursma at 1 and think Sharp slides we can add picks or points to have another throw at the dart board.

What does it matter if they were live pick trades or not?

Clubs paid x to land an upgrade.

That's the cost to upgrade.

How about we get the most bang for our buck?

And also we don't overpay for a 26 yr old who played 9 games back from an ACL.

Asking for 21 for Chesser is the sort of campaigner behaviour we usually experience on the recieving end.

I was kind of resigned to us getting 40 or worse for him. Getting 21 for say Chesser and 33 would be a nice win IMO... probably unrealistic.
Agreed. Think the below i posted is realistic
Can we trade 33, 37 and Chesser for Blues pick 21 and 40. Values Chesser at pick 38.

21 and 16 is valued at pick 7, which coincidentally is where GC have their pick.....

Would give us 1 (Duursma), 2 (Sharp), 7 (Cumming/Schubert), 40 (Curtin), 52 (trade for Young), 57 (Banfield/NGA picks)

What does it matter if they were live pick trades or not?

I thought I explained that.

If you do the trade in October, you’re trading in order to get a shot at whoever’s left at pick 12 come draft day.

If you do the trade live, you’re doing it to get a particular player. The pick might still be pick 12 but the player you’re getting, maybe you rated him in the top five so you’re paying over the odds to get him.

Agree, can't believe I haven't heard of Anderson mentioned until today!
Where do you see Blamires playing?

Half forward midfield rotation.

Holy moly I go out to the movies for one night (avatar 2 re-release, it was awesome) and come back to 35-40 more pages? I would've thought all those sad sacks banging on about how we were definitely 100% guaranteed going to get reamed and Clarke was going to give away all our premierships for magic beans would be strangely quiet.

I guess they'll just pivot to doom posting about how badly we're going to screw up the draft now.

I apologise if I sound harsh. I know it sucks to lose so bad for so long. But we've so clearly turned a corner and in my mind there's no disputing we're on the right path to success. It's safe to open your hearts and learn to love the blue and gold again!

Big love brothers ❤️
This post needs the ability to give more than one reaction, just saying.

Anyone have any info if Sharp and Cumming are good mates?

It genuinely sounds like the recruiters have been working their butts off and chatting to everyone under the sun in their attempts to improve our list, great work WC men!
One of the thing I'm most happy about is how they've been turning over all kinds of stones to look at players who have been productive at state level. I'm a big believer that the Beagles setup has really damaged player development, and the club has failed by not doing what was necessary to make the Beagles at least somewhat competitive (the big problem being that the Beagles have been a mix of young kids and complete scrubs, with not enough solid to good state-level players). Recruiting or at least looking into dudes like Dev, Berry, Schoenberg, that VFL dude, and so on is a big positive. I'm more than happy to give 2-3 spots on the list to those types to add to the overall depth at the club and give the kids more of a normal football development at WAFL level instead of the constant beltings with the ball constantly down the Beagles' defensive end.

I reckon this draft has "Movie Vibes" all over it.
Down and out team on the ropes makes massive comeback by recruiting unwanted players and blending them in with their own rag tag young team and win the Premiership in 2026, beating Hawthorn on the siren.
Tom Barrass to kick the winning goal from FF from 50m out, OOB on the full.

It’s coming

Just need a bit of quiet time to put one together the way I want which is to include a summary of all previous trades from around 2011 onwards

Don't discount Melbourne coming in late.

We definately need to stoke the FOMO fire under Essendon, Richmond and the Dees.

They all have the trade capital to jump ahead of the other two if they have the desire to.

Trading either pick 1 or 2 has always been a decent option IMO for the right price.

Especially pick 2 for someone chasing CDT.

Who is they?
They often gets mentioned but they are never named!
Pyke had a question from someone calling in on one of his pre trade interviews saying we need a mature big bodied genuine midfielder to take the heat off Harley.

Pyke rolled out the whole yeo would be back and Kelly had a much better finish to the year but said it on their list of priorities.

That = dev apparently
