At 21 years of age, you'd have to wonder if he has a pituitary problem that may affect his long-term career. Not AFL related but former overall number 1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama has grown 5cm over the off season, so maybe THE_GUN is on to something when he keeps predicting growth spurts for some of our draftees![]()

Let's talk about contingencies for mods.Thought I'd break the monotony.
So back to discussing do we take CDT or Robey or trade back
Let's talk about contingencies for mods.
If we pass on Robey and take CDT instead, how do they plan on managing the unfiltered rage in here?

I will give you RCD... and Dow and Sonsie would have to do something special next year to be following him out the door but too early on Gibcus and Ross was a pick in the 40s so that is actually a success story
Delisting Stengle and taking Aarts in his place from our VFL has to be the biggest fail of our list management though.
Speaking of Holmes ... his brother is in this draft isn't he?
Played golf this arvo with my mate who is very connected to the DTs. They are extremely keen to get CDT to Richmond and hope that he makes it through to our Pick 3.Poor CDT, no one wants him.
Robey and CDT I’ll be ok with…Played golf this arvo with my mate who is very connected to the DTs. They are extremely keen to get CDT to Richmond and hope that he makes it through to our Pick 3.
My mate is definitely not a Tiger (he's actually a Dees man) so is not just bantering or wishful thinking, but comes from a very close connection with the DTs. Has no love for Richmond himself, but is calling it as it is.
Reinforced to me again his words from about a couple of months ago that Essendon are SUPER keen on him, but Richmond is "a far more appealing prospect to him and the family". Basically, CDT and family desperately want him at Richmond.
Again, stressed that the Eagles have shown minimal interest, but still "concerned" he might end up going west.
You will read lots of rumours and fabricated stuff on these boards, but trust me that my source on this is top notch. It might amount to nought if the Eagles actually are secretly super keen on him, or get interested and make contact in the next few weeks, or Richmond have a better option in mind, but the info as it stands atm is legit.
I could say a lot more but don't want to dox my mate. One thing's for sure, if we select CDT we'll be getting a young bloke is totally busting to get to Punt Road.
Probably need to get your mate off the beers if he's got the DTsPlayed golf this arvo with my mate who is very connected to the DTs.
Can’t see how we possibly get him. Unless Eagles keep picks 1 and 2 and choose Duursma and Robey or Duursma and Sharp. Alternatively, if they sell pick 2 after taking Duursma at 1, the team who bought pick 2 most likely did so to get CDT.Played golf this arvo with my mate who is very connected to the DTs. His quote when interviewed![]()
What role does he see himself playing? Is he a ruck or a KPF who can chop out?

agree, if we take him im fine with that as long as it's to eventually be a number one ruckman. I don't rate his forward work at all, certainly not ahead of armstrong or faull. We do need a quality ruck coming though and he could be a freakishly athletic one.I think you have to play him as a ruck to get the maximum return. Concede some Taps and hope he nullifies before getting to work at ground level. Kind of like a big Grigg. And hope other parts of his game develop.
Let’s be very clear, if we do a deal for pick-3, then whomever is chosen at pick-3 is not going to be a player we wanted. This might be Robey… which means we had no intention of picking him anyway. If it’s Sharp then ditto. Cumming ditto. So if we give up 3, the player taken there is not someone we wanted … 100% guaranteed.Trading up for Robey feels like a very Jason Taylor move. Really hope that one doesn’t pan out
yep, the Conca pick was almost criminal, club just didn't have checks and balances in place to challenge a head recruiter going off script completelyNo one rated Conca. How pulled him out that high in the draft is still a mystery. He never looked worth a first his entire career. An all time howler and probably worse than Tambling.
That assumes you can trust the Essendon people, and nothing in their entire history suggests that you can!Let’s be very clear, if we do a deal for pick-3, then whomever is chosen at pick-3 is not going to be a player we wanted. The reason Bummers might do this even though they know they’re picking a player we don’t want, is they’d fear we’d offer up pick-3 to someone else in a trade, and that team takes their preferred player.
So here is my thinking : Bummers want Sharp or CDT - they don’t want Robey. They know pick-3 guarantees them one of those. They give us 6 plus something good for 3.
So by jumping to 3 they guarantee themselves Sharp or CDT, we take Robey 4, Bummers then get their next choice likely Cumming at 5, and we take Grjl at 6.
So Bummers get their man, and we get our preferred picks of Robey and Grjl who we were going to take at 3-4 anyway …. but we get a nice sweetener on the way.
And as I said … Bummers won’t risk standing back and letting someone else swoop on 3. If they do that then Sharp, CDT and Duursma are all gone by their 5-6 picks. So they only get one of their preferred combo .. not two.

No because out of nowhere they had to fly him to the GCS for the draft he was that far down the list prior.yep, the Conca pick was almost criminal, club just didn't have checks and balances in place to challenge a head recruiter going off script completely
still wonder if it was a fat finger error
