God no.

GC need to move Ainsworth on, he's given them good service, there's no bad blood with him or with us, it's not gonna involve a downgrade of a mid first rounder.

To put that deal into perspective - we get Ainsworth and match a Dean bid with 18 and 22, GC get Pick 10. Why wouldn't we just trade them 22 for Ainsworth, match the Dean bid with 10 alone, and not give them a significant leg up for no reason?

I could see us involving Pick 22 instead, but would want more than just Ainsworth for it given the circumstances. Maybe that pick for Ainsworth and a future second rounder. Helps them with points this year, helps us with points next year.

If they reeeeaallly need to move his contract though, it's more likely to just involve third rounders, and we keep our usable picks.

Depends on GWS's expectations. If they still want a second rounder for him then maybe not. I think we're probably more inclined to grab Phillips in the rookie draft or SSP, use him for 12-18 months and plan around Dean and HOF for when we have our shit together.

The fact that Sydney are yet to put in a formal offer is incredibly intelligent. Wait for what gets turned down then wait to strike. I’m expecting to still get 2-3 first round picks with 1-2 players. If Sydney can get WC involved we could very well have another top 2 pick to play with.

I’m thinking they are actually trying to get their business in order before they do
