You have the Williams family stand, maybe the Phillips family stand? After Erin and Greg? Motley has the Race, Williams’ the stand, Quinn the Clubrooms stand, Ebert the Statue, Wanganeen the Stand at AO, FOS the SoO Best player and the Stand at AO also, Evans and Hodges ends?

Cahill, Tredrea, Phillips x2, Boak probably all deserve something in their honour.

The John and Danny Butcher Family Stand.

Graham and Kane wouldn't want their name on a stand at Alberton. Boak can have the 'most fittest' award named after him for BnFs

Travis Boak Gym would be legitimately fitting.

I’m not particularly fussed overall. I lost faith in these processes when the club named the 2010 extension to the Allan Scott HQ after Choco, when a zillion other things are named after the Williamses.

And what did Jack get at Adelaide Oval? A ‘room’ shared with Andrew McLeod while Oatey got on the main stand?

Lol.

And why not ?

They won’t play an AFL game there if it’s not Port, as the club will just get inconvenienced in terms of training prior to the game, and not get any of the romanticised elements of playing there. That’s why the SANFL grounds are fair game, the league has a bye during Gather Round. And there’s no chance the AFL is taking either SA club out of Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. Too many local fans, plus the draw card of experiencing a Port or a Crows game at the biggest ground in the state isn’t something they’d want to lose.

There are other teams besides Port.

I hope when the next phase is done, the history of the bowls club is appropriately honoured.

My grandfather’s name is all over the honour boards in the current club rooms. Club champion multiple times over the 40 plus years he bowled there.
Part of the deal, is that the Bowling Club will get new and improved, and additional facilities. I suspect Port might use them on some SANFL/AFLW game days - that's the bar and function room area. The Bowling Club will still have its Honour Boards.

Russell Ebert would be the favourite for the new stand…….. I would be keen on The Burgoyne Family to be acknowledged for the 3 Generations of Port Representation ongoing if they were to build another after the Ebert Stand.

I watched the last quarter of the girls game against the Bulldogs and noticed the construction fence and banner mesh on the outer/eastern side, had the SA Government logo on it and the words Government of South Australia in 3 or 4 places as well as Sarah Constructions logo and it went from behind the southern goals to the northern flank.

The fence and mesh wasn't there for the previous home game against Geelong, and the temporary grandstand was still up. I double checked the highlights video to make sure that was the case.

I knew we are building the new change room for the girls in the northern carpark where the old entrance to the Alan Scott HQ was, and eventually we build small permanent grandstand on the outer wing but this fence and mesh looked way to big for that.

So I asked around and got a few don't knows and got no idea, but a Port mate in the construction industry and does work for Sarah Constructions, said its for the bowling club redevelopment and Sarah Constructions needs an area to have huts, store machines, store materials and trucks and cars.

Koch and Co have been saying we will be debt free by October 2025 for 18 months and that the redevelopment will begin in 2025. By starting so late in the footy financial year, they have been able to meet their public announcements.

We will eventually have to borrow $8m-$10m to complete the redevelopment after using SA government grant monies and cash reserves given its a $35m redevelopment.

Out of interest (I’m sure it’s been covered somewhere in this thread), does the club own the oval?

I was always of the opinion it was leased from the council.

Nope we own the buildings on the area around the oval and a small parcel of land where the carpark at the MG centre is.

What about the bowls club? It kind of is being absorbed into the oval.
The bowling club has sub leased from the footy club for over 120 years. They probably own their building, but will give it up to get access to more facilities and more indoor space than they currently have and sub lease from us again.

Didn’t we refurb the old changing rooms for the girls? I remember an article about it all.

Yes but that was a relatively cheap post covid, 2021/22 spend to get them ready for the 2022 season, well the 2nd season AFLW ran in 2022.

We hadn't locked in funding for the MG Centre at the time. Now we have gone for the 2nd big spend and want them over on the same side as the blokes and it all be integrated.

That area wont go to waste, we can use it for the various academy programs.

Can we also mount the cameras elsewhere?

On TV it always looks like it’s one of those empty grounds next to a sport centre.

When the 2k are behind the camera.
