Why does the Dons board keep wanting to meddle into footy affairs?
Wasn't the selling point of Welsh was to bring a new direction to the club?
show. The whole place really is ashow.
Normal club board members and presidents just leave it to the footy department, you know the ones that get payed to do it and have some clue.

Settle down - I've got one of those hairlinesIt still makes me laugh that Andrew Welsh was at the draft combine. The only president to attend.
WTF does this bozo know about drafting/list management?
He was a shite footballer and he's got an even shitter hairline.

Brad ScottBut seriously think about it, what's stopping Essendon making finals then since you guys have great youth and A grade talent better than some finals teams like Hawthorn.
Will Day? Lol.Good to see Adelaide possibly getting involved to unlock this deal
What happened to "under no circumstances"... all of a sudden cracks starting to appear
Kinda sounds like the Zac Merret situationWill Day? Lol.

umm no it doesn't hahaha Day has no intention of leaving.Kinda sounds like the Zac Merret situation
His management took the call.umm no it doesn't hahaha Day has no intention of leaving.
A quick google search would suggest boards are more involved than you thinkBasically what I've been saying for 2 weeks.
Key parts of the article:
“No meaningful discussions between Hawthorn and Essendon.”
That's what I've been saying Essendon's been stonewalling.
I got laugh reacts from Essendon posters because of my "reading" of the situation.
Both clubs admit it what I've been posting, while Essendon fans kept calling it “rubbish.”
Merrett “has made plain his wish to join Hawthorn.”
Explains itself.
The board veto clause.
Ahhh... Massive?
A board-level veto means Essendon’s football department can’t even complete a trade without political approval. Wow.
This is not a rational but purely an emotional club. Rosa must be thinking... How do I become Dodoro.
Like my constant argument here about the Dodoro ghost /optics over substance... Word for word here.
Hawthorn’s offer.
Pick 9 is already on the table. What else is there? Likr I've said before, this is what Hawthorn has, Essendon is welcome to shop Merrett to Collingwood or Geelong and get a worse offer or keep unhappy player
If no serious talks occur, it’s on Essendon...not Hawthorn.
We're almost at the end of the trade period, and no nomination yet or negotiation. Could suggest Merrett’s camp knowing Essendon’s obstruction is political, so they’re waiting until the board pressure hits boiling point before forcing their hand ( next week).
Essendon’s optics war has already backfired. Journalists starting to writrt that the board must approve a trade, screams incompetence.
Merrett’s delay now looks tactical, not hesitant: if he nominates after the board meeting, it isolates Welsh and the board and then they can’t claim ignorance or hide behind “we didn’t have time.”
Hawthorn’s position strengthens either way and they look patient and disciplined while Essendon looks reactionary and pride-driven.

It looks distinguished on you, king.Settle down - I've got one of those hairlines![]()
Deflection is a poor character traitYou guys are melting hard, I expect more of them to come.
Deflection is a poor character trait
No one can hear you on the pedestal you’ve placed yourself on budSure is. I just need more Essendon fans laugh reacting at my posts even though I've been right all week. Maybe you guys can form a "pseudo-board" and decide if my posts are worthy of ridicule or legitimate responses.

What it proves is that people want to discuss the trade, not like you, who comes here to bag out another club. Nice job on responding like an ass when other Essendon supporters (not me) responded to you very reasonably. Avoiding responding to what I actually said in my post proves exactly why you're here. You just proved my point again. Your Essendon cohorts gave you a heap of likes on this post.
If this was the Hawthorn way, you'd been saying how great it is etc....The whole place really is ashow.

It has not been the Hawthorn way for a long time. Collingwood ended up with a stupid Brodie Grundy deal because the President was in control. Boards should not do football. If this was the Hawthorn way, you'd been saying how great it is etc....
