blah blah blah

Ryan Okeefe - denied trade to Hawthorn then Carlton
Gary Buckenara - denied trade to West coast
Tom Papley - denied trade to Carlton
Harrison Petty - denied trade to Adelaide

Melbourne not trading Petty has to be the worst list management decision of all time and it’s not close how a club didn’t accept a first rounder for that spud

Not sure why Cats supporters are still here, let the Swans have Curnow
Was thinking the same thing, the Cats don't seem to be an option and already cast their best offer, so seems it's Swans or bust.

As it’s always been only other one that suited Carlton was GC if they put Humphries up. Junk 20 plus “first” rounders were never going to be enough

Curnow is gone, whether is this year or the next or to Geelong, Sydney or some other club you're merely delaying the inevitable. This is now a salvaging process that Carlton is reluctant to accept but will eventually have to, just like Geelong did with Kelly, GAJ and the Dees with Trac and Clarry. Them's the break I'm afraid, trust me you don't want to keep a player that doesn't want to be there, it'll all end in tears.
Papley says hi but in any case curnow will be traded to the swans this week

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s tomorrow to be honest allows both clubs time to do pick trades for the academy and F/S players in the last day or two

Ah not this shit again. At least get the definition right.

Your first rounders are nowhere near high enough and more likely worse next year under what planet would Carlton do it. Great you plucked Holmes with one…we took Dean Towers and Matt Ling with those types of firsts.

GC had the assets before a Trac deal they don’t now. Sydney at least have pick 9 (11) which is a good starting point

Mate im not getting into a debate with you about the curnow deal itself. But a first round pick is still a first round pick at 25 if that first round has 27 picks in it. By all means say you dont rate that pool and wouldn't take the picks but stop fudging it trying to say picks aren't 1st rounders when they are. The number of people who cant get basic facts right like that on this board does my head in. D & T used to be a great place to hear really knowledgeable people discuss draft cohorts and really interesting views on list strategies and game trends. Lately its just a bunch of supporters fighting with each other plus people having no basic understanding of how things work. It's a shame.

They technically are firsts but come off it you know they are junk and pretty much second rounders after all bidding etc . It’s a who cares if you stuff it up as a top 4 side pick and that’s at best if they gave you CC. For every Holmes there are 20 Dean Towers at that range.

Carlton have been fairly reasonable in this obviously want a top 5-10 pick as the cornerstone and a player or two now the latter one is the tough part. Think that’s more than reasonable for a contracted player who is a two time AA

A 1st round pick means a pick between pick 1 and pick 18 before other compensation pick/ academy picks.
You need to call them extremely late compromised 1st round picks, not 1st round picks.
It's not as though you're offering pick 2, pick 5 and pick 7.

Geelong offered compromised junk. You shouldn't even be bidding for him if you won't offer Neale ,Miers or Holmes.
All of those players would rather retire than be traded to Carlton though

That’s fine but be realistic don’t even make an offer if you have no assets to satisfy the seller before you say 3 lots of pick 20+ are assets they aren’t

Yeah and they wouldn’t even really get a live pick with two of the picks. Both are soaked in the Dean/Walker bids. Why even make the bid for the player with your hands crossed saying we won’t trade players…um okay well do tell why you wasted both Carlton’s and CC’s time

I thought it was 2 first rounders?

It was and yikes think there was something coming back the other way but either way horrible moment for Mel not taking that deal

None of our players want to move, we don’t have anything else to offer…

Which tbf, while those picks could end up quite good if Cats have a fall off year could also end up as really late firsts so totally understand Blues apprehension.
Surprised we are even entertaining Curnow tbh, we don’t have the capital or available players to trade for him.
I get wanting to appease certain Geelong players who are mates with him (Danger, Baz) to make it look like they tried to get him but really it’s just wasting our time.

It’ll be Curnow to Swans or staying with the Blues.

Cats need to focus on getting Marshall deal done.
Have heard through the ropes that trade has been talked about as a potential multi team deal.

Petty and Oliver for two first rounders each, they'd have massively jump started a rebuild AND got rid of two guys who monumentally under-achieved in 2025.

Lunacy to reject it.
