The Sun in Yarraville is my favourite cinema. The art-deco design and the history of the place makes it feel special when you go there.

I could have watched more on the subject - maybe it could have been a four part series. For example, they didn't mention any pubs. The Celtic Club was a Melbourne institution. The facade is still there but it's not a pub any more and there's a tower block on top of it. Or train stations. Flinders Street kept its historic charm while modernising. Spencer Street deserved to be demolished. What was Docklands like before redevelopment?

Docklands was the pits

The Athenaeum and the Regent in Collins Street were opposite each other.

Saw The Empire Strikes Back at the Australia.

The Metro in Bourke Street.

Saw ET at the Forum in Flinders Street.

Saw Godspell at the Playbox.

I reckon I saw ET at the Forum!

i haven't paid total attention as my wife started watching it without me, but the last half of the ed gein monster series is pretty dire. not as in the ghastly subject matter, but poor watching. dahmer monster series was more effective in laying out some reasoning for his actions - didn't try to humanise him too much. this has way too many tangents, veers too far off the track, too much screen time spent on people other than gein. throw in some jarring pop culture references.

Yeah finished it tonight. Didn't like it. Think I'll stick to documentaries in future rather than dramatisations. That last episode was just dumb.

I gave up after ep two.. wasn’t getting any better I felt and it seems it was the right call.

I moved on to Task and that is excellent, but not on Netflix

Speaking of serial killers (I think Netflix is SK central atm), we watched this interesting documentary on the daughter of BTK. Goes into the case and offers a very interesting perspective on how finding out her dad was BTK affected her and what that did to her life and how it destroyed her family.

That's next on my list. So worth a watch?

Haven't finished yet, but find the Hitchcock parallel narrative very odd so far. Feels like it's trying to critique using real life grisly crimes for entertainment, but the show is a far more gratuitous, shlocky, less nuanced version of that than Psycho.

The Perfect Neighbor

Oh my god devastating.

Movie, documentary using police body cam.

Do urself a favour and watch it.

I was a bit yeh nar I will give it a miss 5 minutes into it but gawd stayed to the end. This is true crime in all it’s devastation; those poor kids

The Perfect Neighbor was a sad tale, for sure.

I'm sure those kids and their parents were provoking Susan a bit out of hatred for her because of her actions. So, I didn't really believe the "We did nothing wrong" crap in the bodycam footage. Or "They're just kids playing" stuff. Yeah, I bet the kids were playing, but also trying to provoke crazy old Susan, too, at times. But what Susan did was despicable, and she got her just rewards for that. Although I thought a 25-year sentence was harsh for a manslaughter charge, unless they had changed the charge to second-degree murder. Susan will probably die in prison.

Cops didn’t help repeatedly turning up playing the “poor me I’m just the umpire” visit after visit; that’s your job and give the kids the stern warning they needed
