Suns have moved on to try and split pick 15, North a possible buyer with picks in the 20s but it’s less points…

A bit in here about Dev getting on our rookie list and Mini selling the role to him of his preferred position as a contested inside midfielder

Also Ted Clohesy from Geelong linked to one of our rookie spots

Besides midfielders I would really like us to spend a pick on a quality small and then a KPF. I'm not sold on A. Reid as a forward yet and don't think any of our current smalls can fill the hole Ryan will leave. We really need a small that can be a threat deep in the forward line not a half forward. I know some have suggested Dovaston but I'm not sure he makes it to 13 with our current draft hand and he's more a half forward type. Wally looks good but I can see him being found out at afl level. I don't mind a few of the talls in Curtin and Sherbert. Curtin doesn't move that graciously but he does kick bags, sherbert has good hands. CDT I'm assuming we take at 2 as a prospective ruck? I'm really concerned about his hands he drops a lot of marks he shouldn't and even a lot of hand ball receives.

Looks all hope is gone of 7 or 8 but If the Dees don’t want to give up the picks in the 20s surely that’s where we get involved.

Dees (still overs imo)
In- 7 & 13
Out- Trac

Eagles (we get up the board)
In- 8
Out- 13 & 34 + no bids on academy players that’s a lot of points (nearly identical in points)

GC (they get their man and their kids)
In- Trac, 34
Out- 7 & 8

I think you just tell them what they want to hear then play them in their best position after humouring them for a few pre-season games. Supposedly Starcevich wants to play in the midfield as well.

Without doubt but we do appear to have the role available and if Dev is going to make it, it’s probably the position it would have to be.

I agree but ideally he gets pushed out by our draftee's in a couple of years time. Will make us competitive in the mean time and protect the young blokes.

I get the angst from some regarding the perception of Clarke "continually" paying slight overs or receiving slight unders whether the player is incoming or outgoing.

In negotiations there is a concept that being seen as a 'soft touch' in matters that dont really matter, means when you do stand your ground the opposition realize thats where the line is & understand there is no further wriggle room.

I don't think any of the trades so far have been a real issue, let's see what happens when other clubs come for #1 or #2 where it really matters.

Umm, surely you learnt the most important one of all?

"dónde está el baño, por favor"

Considering how often you get the runs over there, this one is an absolute must.
🤣 Funny you say that, my wife and I spent 3 days vomiting/crapping every half an hour, got admitted to hospital for 2 days, a week after getting altitude sickness at the top of the Colca canyons.
Give me a WA beach any day!

Also the Clohesy link is interesting, we certainly have cast a wide net for any OOC player to bolster the team & Beagles.

WAFL flag incoming. Will be interesting to see if the WAFL put any extra restrictions on our wafl team now we have the 4 extra players. Might need to find a reserves alignment for Barnett ect

Yeah the start of my trip was pretty shitty(no pun intended...) but it was much better once I got used to it.

Squat toilets though. Not good...

When you're sitting at home staring at your PC and reading and digesting all the if, buts and maybes in this forum it's easy to fall into the belief that WC could have done better with their negotiations. Negotiations are a two-way street and what you want doesn't always result in the outcome you were chasing. Having said that I think the trades to date have produced a pretty reasonable outcome.

Personally, I'd like to see us retain picks 1 and 2 but if there is to be pick swap then perhaps 2 for two first rounders in the top 8 (unlikely).

Just watched William's and Walley's highlights package on YouTube, a bit (actually a lot) to like with these two.

I reckon we're well and truly heading in the right direction.

We do appear to be looking at inside mids if Clohesy is on the radar

From https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/ted-clohesy/

Inside Midfielder

#15

Ted Clohesy

height: 184cm
weight: 76kg
D.O.B: 09-06-2004
Leagues: AFL U18 Championships, Coates Talent League Boys

STRENGTHS:

  • Contested game

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Kicking
  • Outside game

Once Carlton get Sydney’s first and F1 for Curnow, I think they’ll come hard for pick 2 as well. They’ll offer 10 and 11, I don’t think we should take that though obviously but it’s nice as I can see a bidding war breaking out between Essendon, Melbourne and Carlton.

First up - I was actually refering to this year but let's wander back in time. Agree the Baker trade was poor & I dont think anyone can excuse that.

I do however think Clarke did well with Barrass which is something that is conveniently forgotten/ignored when potting Clarke. If WC had chosen the other way it would have been seen as genius.

But let's get back to this year as that is what I was referring to. Hardly a train wreck me thinks and allows him to play good cop bad cop.
