Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Hey mate we have HOK, kemp, lewis young as potential KFWD replacements if mckay goes down. In fact id be giving lewis young the second KFWD spot in the team anyway. The guy didnt put a foot wrong when u played there in the season. A team first player.

Dude…

Trying to convince yourself we will be ok because we have Lewis Young to cover for Charlie is next level derangement.

Florent is an upgrade on Acres.

Hayward takes Charlies spot.

10 and 11 for Humphrey would be awesome but I doubt GC let him go.

Assuming Elijah is gone also..

Evans Hayward Ainsworth
Kemp Mckay Williams

Motlop on the pine.

Not a bad setup.

People are in this thread talking down Florent and Hayward as if we didn't all just sit through a full season of some of the most diabolical half-back and small forward play of all time.

disappointed the wire GIF
100%!
Since when did this board turn into a bunch of toddlers who’ve missed nap time? Talk about entitlement.

Charlie wants out and this is a good deal; delusional to think we’d get more.

I'm not sure what we were expecting to be honest.

We're not a destination club. We're a basket case and have been for 25 years.
No A grade players are going to be lining up to get to us.

We've had an exodus of players and if the rumours are true the playing group was divided.
This would have been poisoning the culture and killing morale.

The offer from Sydney could maybe be better but you take it everyday of the week.

As much as I loved watching Charlie he never really performed in games that counted, yeh he kicked bags against west coast or north but did he do it in finals? or when we were trying to make finals i.e 23 against Collingwood?

No one respects Carlton - not the media , not opposition supporters, no one.

I'm ok with him going. We need to bring in good leaders and rebuild the culture across the whole club.

Geelong are not out. They will be back with another offer by tomorrow night.
They need to revisit this then!
“Meantime, Geelong rejected a Carlton bid to make rising star Connor O’Sullivan part of any deal to trade Charlie Curnow to the Cats as the two parties discussed trade scenarios last week”

Take the name out of it and that's what we're looking at here. A bloke who tried hard but rarely impacted up forward, moved back and looked pretty handy. But with the added factor of this time round, the one we lost was also very very injury prone.

Jack will play some very good footy over the next few years. He'll also miss games. He'll also get towelled up and concede bags of goals from time to time.

we will effectively swap Jack at 27 with a gun young key defender in Dean. 10 plus years ahead and for the moment much cheaper

If 11 is added to 10 for 2? F1 gets us Walker and Hayward & Florent make us better and I’m hoping they bring the standards and success attitude that was evident under Longmire at Swans

It’s more than just the deal. It’s the entire picture

I think moving on Curnow McGovern Elijah etc will bring a big change in standards
Pick 2 turns it into a 2-3 goal breeze

If Curnow ends up at Sydney, lock in silverware for the blues next season.
Buddy Franklin goes from Hawthorn to Sydney - Hawks win the Premiership Cup
Tony Lockett goes from St Kilda to Sydney - Saints win the Ansett Cup

We won’t be bottom 4. Next year won’t be easy but we’ll win 8-12 games playing kids and then hit free agency hard next year.

Not where I pictured we’d be 2 years ago but it’s never as bad as it seems. Things can change quickly if everyone is on board.

Is everyone on board? Are we sure? Cos it feels like Docherty, TDK, SOS, and Charlie weren't.

Is Walsh in board? He is a FA next year - is he happy to play out the next few years of his career on a rebuilding team? I wonder whether Cripps and Doc and Kennedy and all the other blokes he has played with agree... What advice they'll give, particularly if Cur ow plays in a top 4 team, and the Saints and Bulldogs have good years and...

What about Voss? If we gut the list and win 8 games, he has to keep his job, right? It cannot be fair to have the off-season we are in then sack the coach, right? So we are locking in Voss for what, four more years?

I dunno, it seems very risky to me. Things can change quickly, sure, but it strikes me as being more likely that they change quickly if you have Charlie Curnow on your team.

It just seems to make SO much more sense to refuse all trade offers unless they are overwhelming, roll it back one more time, and see what happens.

12 months from now we can be a bit more certain about the coach, about Walsh, about a bunch of other injured players (Kemp, O'Farrell, Smith, Newman, all coming off serious injuries). Next year is a stronger draft and we have great position there already with Walker so it is a much better draft to negotiate into. Who knows where Geelong and Sydney sit and where their players are at.

Again, we don't have to trade Curnow and a deal that gets us two C grade players and no picks in the top 10 of the draft just seems completely underhwleming

Common theme here with “Docherty, TDK, SOS, and Charlie weren't”

Players on the take or in Doc’s case, decline.

Agree. Cant see Humphrey happening, even if Gold Coast relented they’d do a straight swap to Melbourne for Petracca and keep pick 7 & 8 (better than our 10 & 11).
If we give them 10 and 11 for Humphrey and pick 15. They use 8 and 11 for Trac. They still have 2 picks in the top 10 and they have Trac while we have Humphrey and pick 15. Or, as part of the deal that see's Trac to GC17 and Humphrey to us, we tell GC17 to send pick 15 to Melbourne and we'll take picks 24 and 42.

Use 42 (second round pick) to the Dogs for Khamis.

Not really a rumor, but was down at the club today. Saw the guys training in the gym.

HOF, HOK, Flynn Young, Moir, White, McGovern and Elijah. All looked in great shape but Moir in particular stood out. A a real specimen. HOF still very skinny. Hopefully he can build his body during his year off. Also, saw Gov doing laps of Princess Park. Was going pretty hard. He gave Elijah a big hug when he arrived which was nice to see.

Was hoping to catch a secret meeting between Bailey Humphrey and Voss. Unfortunately no such luck.
