Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If it were 2025, I'd agree with you. But I have a feeling that Captain Walshy will have them fighting tooth and nail and ready to go in 2026. While i dont expect miracles, I expect a different and more united team next year.
I would hold off on the captain walshy have hered a few rumours he and Voss dont see eye to eye on a few things aswell

Does anyone realistically think we win a premiership in the next 2 or 3 years if we keep Charlie?
If not what is the point of keeping him especially if he wants out.

Take the deal which allows us to get Dean and Walker and keep our future pics.
If we keep Charlie we'll be scrambling to get pics for Walker and will limit our options for any other deals going forwards.

I just don't see the light at the end of the tunnel with Charlie.

Our aim is to build towards a premiership not keep a guy because he was a Colman medallist.

I think everyone else is worried about what Charlie might or might not do at another club (FOMO).

We need to do what is best for club to get to no 17.

11, F1, Hayward and Florent isn't blowing me away, more like a gentle breeze

Is everyone on board? Are we sure? Cos it feels like Docherty, TDK, SOS, and Charlie weren't.

Is Walsh in board? He is a FA next year - is he happy to play out the next few years of his career on a rebuilding team? I wonder whether Cripps and Doc and Kennedy and all the other blokes he has played with agree... What advice they'll give, particularly if Cur ow plays in a top 4 team, and the Saints and Bulldogs have good years and...

What about Voss? If we gut the list and win 8 games, he has to keep his job, right? It cannot be fair to have the off-season we are in then sack the coach, right? So we are locking in Voss for what, four more years?

I dunno, it seems very risky to me. Things can change quickly, sure, but it strikes me as being more likely that they change quickly if you have Charlie Curnow on your team.

It just seems to make SO much more sense to refuse all trade offers unless they are overwhelming, roll it back one more time, and see what happens.

12 months from now we can be a bit more certain about the coach, about Walsh, about a bunch of other injured players (Kemp, O'Farrell, Smith, Newman, all coming off serious injuries). Next year is a stronger draft and we have great position there already with Walker so it is a much better draft to negotiate into. Who knows where Geelong and Sydney sit and where their players are at.

Again, we don't have to trade Curnow and a deal that gets us two C grade players and no picks in the top 10 of the draft just seems completely underhwleming
as much as dochs story is great... he was apart of nothing but losing cultures for his whole career besides 1 season and in that 1 seasons he admits he was already thinking about the granny after the first qtr of the prelim... him and crippa individually are great but as leaders and culture setters not so much.

Sheesh you'd swear Florent was Cam O'Shea or something the way some people are reacting
Can assure you that both Florent and Hayward will please Carlton fans next season if that’s what happens. Both were walk in pieces of Longmire’s tenure and played pretty much every game when available since 2017. Both got drafted together (11 and 21 respectively) and run a business together. Hayward is a coaches dream (except dean cox). Fantastic over head mark, absolute dead eye dick in front of goals, great pressure in the front half, really clean when the ball is on the ground. Plays like a tall and a small, literally the perfect forward. Can’t speak highly enough of Hayward, I’m sad we are losing him but obviously something has to give to get. I have no doubt Florent will rediscover the player he was under Longmire with a new system. Just went stale for him this year and he lost some confidence under Cox. Both are coming into their prime right now. Let’s just see what happens over the next couple of days though.

Feeling pretty flat, cant see how this trade makes us better. I can see how it instantly makes Sydney better hence why they are jumping at the deal. The old adage of key position players being worth more than flankers or mids rings pretty loudly. We're trading away a very good key forward for a couple of flankers and some picks that help us get a mid. I hope Nick Austin has a plan up his sleeve to get us another key forward from somewhere. We have gone from having built a team around a good spine to seeing a large part of it leave in a short space of time. The replacements seem to be either draftee kids or undersized swingmen. When Harry has a spell on the sidelines we're going to be in trouble.
Gee, there's a tonne of available organic growth before mixing in the likes of Ainsworth, Chesser, Haywood, Jagga etc.

Newy and Kemp... a fit Walsh and a Cerra with more zip in his legs....

Breakout year for Moir... 40 goals +

Plus, I still staunchly believe they've got a big fish coming in....

Top 8 comfortably, top 4 with luck...

After watching the Charlie, interview in Sydney. Half of me wants to say “Charlie…get the **** out of our club”

Then the other half of me says “it’s part of modern football” but “Charlie…get the **** out of our club”

My biggest issue with the proposed deals, is do we have a plan for picks 10 & 11. I’d be at peace if we could use them to get pick 2 or 3 or a classy player.

Also, any ITKs have any information on our other players that maybe pushed out:
McGovern
Elijah
Acres
Binns
Boyd
It is certainly part of modern football and if anything the stigma of changing clubs for money/opportunity etc will only decrease in future years.

Having said that though - as I’ve been saying for a couple of months now - Curnow’s behaviour (on field attitude, pushing to leave mid-seaso whilst in contract etc) deserves a lot more condemnation than JSOS (unquestioned effort on field, out of contract, exercising free agent rights)

It's not next year that worries me it's year 3 and 4

Spot on. We also don't want players who don't want to play for us. That's a worry though when we get Haywood Still though take the pics and what comes our way, they will be better in the long run.

Thanks.

I like Florent. Dont get the worry on this board. Thought he was unlucky this year. Did he mostly play half-back or wing for you guys or both?

When Charlie lines up against Weiters and us in 2026, he better bring his **** mouthguard and his big boy pants. Will cop it from the crowd and his former teammates.
wouldn’t expect anything close to that from this group, more like hand shake and laughs as Charlie kicks 8 on us

Not in my estimation, just off the top of my head I'd have Cripps, Weitering, Hewett, Walsh, Charlie, Harry, Cerra ahead of him
His biggest shortcoming (that may never be fixed) was that the difference between his good or better days and his ordinary to bad days was massive...

His worst was shockingly bad - as we saw from about rd 6 on this year.

He did come across pretty smug. Always does these days. Not sure there is much humility left there. Heads gotten so big Im surprised he was able to board the plane.

Just comes across as a bit of an all round dbag these days to be honest.

It's very different. Every time I hear Wright and Davies speak, it gives me confidence in the direction that we are moving in.
It's not just about building a good list, it feels like an overhaul of the Club itself, a well needed one.
Eggsactly.

Look at the tall KPFs the Pies had when they won the flag last time...

Nah man, if what we get is Hayward, Florent and two bog average draft picks (pick 14-15 in a weak draft and what, pick 17 or 18 next year?), that's an awful trade

Sometimes it is just subtraction by subtraction, and we have done an awful lot of subtraction in the past few years.

We have two A grade players on the list (ie players who have made multiple All Australian teams). One of those is contracted for four years. To trade him away and not even get a B grade player OR a top 10 pick is just dumb.
It should never be about what you think a player is worth on paper, it should be about a means to an end. We were bullish about what we wanted for Gibbs, we got it one year later and it achieved bugger all.
