Welcome to St Kilda...
Liam Ryan!

Liam has officially become a Saint!
He was traded in along with West Coast's 2027 3rd Round pick - in exchange for our 2026 2nd Round Pick.

“There’s a great energy about this group, and you can feel the hunger to improve and do something great. I want to bring my experience and help spark the forward line but also keep learning and pushing myself to be the best I can for the team.

“I was also really drawn to St Kilda’s strong First Nations programs and culture. The Saints have one of the largest First Nations groups of any club, and to play alongside guys like Bradley Hill, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Marcus Windhager, who are making an impact both on and off the field, was a huge drawcard for me.

While it might be projection, you have to think starving in that Eagles forward-line for the past few seasons has allowed many to forget how much of an impact player he is.

He has spent some time up the ground too, and is one of those players that just makes things happen with every touch. Not expecting the world, but will add another dynamic to our attack.

If he can iron out Brayden Maynard for us like he did in those highlights, would almost be worth it for that alone

Great to see him in our club. I feel he's gone a little unnoticed due to our excitement a getting the others, and hes not much of an interviewee, but hes a player i have long admired and I'm excited at seeing him play for us, even if like Paddy Ryder it's a few seasons late.

That interview majes one thing clear: his primary job is to mentor Lanceyboy Collard and wouldn't it be great if out N° 4 ended up with a career even half as good as Liam's? A prodigious talent who just needs a reason to stay in Melbourne and push himself to the limits of his potential - if Ryan can help him love footy at St Kilda and entertain us with some trademark awesome marking and goals, then he'll end his career as beloved at St Kilda as Ryder was, and if it doesn't work out, it was certainly worth trying.

As for Lance, he has all the tools and now a few spectacular mentors at the club to work with: its up to him now, really hope he makes his AFL career a memorable one.
