This is turning out to be CLASSIC ESSENDON.
Player wants to leave and flags it VERY early.
Essendon digs their heals in "Nobody is bigger than us".
Now they'll end up with another entity roaming the corridors with an axe to grind.
They already have the ghosts of Kev & Jimmy rattling the chains around the hanger.
Add Zachie the friendly ghost to the mix now.
It's almost popcorn time....
if you're incapable of reading between the lines, that's on you. Some of the dribble in here is pretty funny.. Essendon won't trade under any circumstances.... "OMG this is disgraceful from Hawthorn how can't they get this deal done"

You said that Hawks would be top 4?
I’ve already given explanations of the other teams but if you’d like a rehash.
Bris - no explanation needed - added players in require positions - bunch of kids to improve
GC - look like adding Petracca, bunch of kids to improve
Ade - Discussed
Freo - Discussed + better run with injury
GWS - Add Oliver - Have kids in key positions with lots of improvement + better run with injury
Syd - Add Curnow, kinder run with injury
WB - Kinder run with injury
Geel - Add Marshall (if not they’re a chance to regress imo)
Coll - Likely regress
Hawks - should be about the same; outside chance they have a fit day and Lewis which would greatly improve their chances but they had a relatively good run with injury (compared to WB/Syd/Freo/GWS)
Port/Saints - Dark horses for the 8?
Should hopefully be a very competitive season for the top 8, with the top 4 being my only real locks barring something disastrous.
If the Hawks were to obtain Merrett I’d move them to a lock but with Days injury concerns their midfield appears to fragile for me to put them there at this stage.
if anything happens it'll be in the last 5 minutes because the AFL wants it to happen.Has anything happened yet.

it's all about the spectacle! That's the way it goes.
as I've said several times now - it will be Zach's choice not to remain as captain. I would be staggered if he wanted to keep the gig after this, assuming he staysIt still has to be someone's choice that he is not to remain as captain.
I know that we hold to the idea that there's no "tenure", but incumbency still holds. Nobody is walking around Brisbane treating next year's captaincy as an open contest
Sounds like a plan, see you next year.We can try again next year after Bombers finish bottom 4 and Scott gets sacked.
Dons will be in full rebuild and likely trade for one 2R then.
Essendon (to this point) won't even negotiate which is 100% their right so no problems from my end with that.. how is that on Hawthornif you're incapable of reading between the lines, that's on you.
So when does Zach come out and say "im staying!" ?

Karl Amon 2 top 5s or gtfo though right?Next year he wouldnt be worth an F3 in the compromised Tassie draft.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's another twist to come. I am long past completely buying into the speculation and theatre. 7:31pm tomorrow is when we'll really know the state of play
Incorrect, Tom Morris reported that Petroro tabled offers at yesterdays meeting that Hawthorn have ready to goHawthorn (to this point) won't even put forward an offer which is 100% their right so no problems from my end with that.. how is that on Essendon
Yeh hawks need to get some proper packages for Merrett.Incorrect, Tom Morris reported that Petroro tabled offers at yesterdays meeting that Hawthorn have ready to go
They have form. Trying to white ant the club/player relationship to get them on the cheap and then when they realise they might have to pony up they hide in the corner. Gutless organisation. As much as Essendon are insufferable, this is pretty poor from the Hawks.
Let's see what comes out.. neither of us have any idea what was offeredYeh hawks need to get some proper packages for Merrett.
