Melbourne have consistently said they want to keep Petracca, while for 2 years he has made it clear he wants to move. How could the AFL possibly punish Melbourne for wanting to keep a player to a contract that he voluntarily signed?
That is fantastic, not just so Hawthorn don't get stronger, but for the saltiness of that Hawthorn mob who must be the worst for BF banter.Hawks supporters really cracking the shits over this one. For the Hawks to not get this deal done after making it very public since the Sam Mitchell meeting is a complete fail.

their best pick is currently 49 in a weak draft. WOW, clubs will be clambering for that![]()
It ain't gunna matter with this handbreak in charge of that midfield groupIt gets lost in all the negativity that our midfield this year was still good enough to earn the minor premiership. Dawson and Rankine are genuinely all Australian standard mids, and if either Curtin or Draper can elevate their game to A grade, then we have a really elite group. If they both manage it and you add solid B graders in Soligo and Peatling then all the better.
Simple truth is that during finals of our 2 genuine midfield stars, 1 was suspended and the other had a cracked foot, and the depth couldn’t cover that.
So the AFL should fine Melbourne for a “well played position”?thats just a well played position to maximise his trade.

It is hard to disagree with that. However all the list management can do is put together a group capable of being elite and the question of coaching and development becomes the next task.It ain't gunna matter with this handbreak in charge of that midfield groupView attachment 2455552

I dunno, if this big player Redhorse says we will get does not happen, as a club we may as well FOALdRedhorse is the glue that keeps this board together
Its akin to pairing Penfolds Grange with SpamIt is hard to disagree with that. However all the list management can do is put together a group capable of being elite and the question of coaching and development becomes the next task.

I know everything gets done on the last day but what a slow trade period.
It doesn’t look like we’re going to get materially better but at the same time, neither is:
- Geelong
- Hawks
- Collingwood
- WB
- Fremantle
The maybe better is GWS.
The teams that have or will materially improve their list:
- Gold Coast with Petracca
- Brisbane and their FAs
- Sydney if Curnow happens
Compared to the teams around us it probably ends up being a nil all draw which I think we’d take.
Still a lot to happen but it’s not all doom and gloom with us not landing our big fish.
Its why a virtual free hit in George Stevens seems like a worthwile exercise for us. If he can be that inside player to get the ball out to our topline players and win a bunch of centre and stoppage clearances each game then its a big win. If he doesn't work out, its a low cost gamble.Yup, a gun defense as well.
Still, that two snowballs rather quickly into 4-5 if someone becomes a reliable 6-7 clearance per game player. Football does tend to be like that where one gun ends up making conditions easier for another to excel, and this is a team that wants for more predictability in its clearance game (especially stoppage clearance).
or soon will be....Redhorse is the glue that keeps this board together

Today is the day to throw a few lines out there and see if you get a bite.
Merrett deal at a stand still? Here are two first round picks. Would Essendon be interested? Is Merrett that desperate to leave?
Throw the big offer at Z Bailey and see if he's willing to move now. They just signed Ashcroft to big $$$ they can't have much left.
When other clubs have stagnant deals there is an opportunity to throw a few options out there to see if you can steal or to see if you can help shake the deal loose.
All long shots obviously, but worth trying rather than sitting back waiting for your phone to ring.
