Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

If Shitney wants pick 22, give us 32 and their 26 F2.

32 gets us Buku and we can add their F2 to picks 10 and 11 when we offer them to GC17 for Bailey (who wants out now) and pick 15. If they won't do 15, take the F2 off the table and say 18.

Admittedly not to thrilled of the deal that has been floated for Curnow so far.

A motivated Charlie far outweighs what we can seemingly get for him. I’ve long viewed him as our best player, and has that X-Factor that can absolutely turn a game on its head, which we will, in my view be lacking now. Sadly, there’s been a total breakdown between Charles and the club now and will only be here as a last resort.

Hayward and the two first rounders are a decent start, but Florent we should give a miss, and go for a Campbell off half back with his exceptional kicking, which we’re crying out for.

Taking Florent is nothing but a salary dump, and would probably be in our bottom 6 of our 23.

Don’t think everyone seems to grasp all the other off field factors here, alongside Cripps Charlie is one of the faces of the club, it’s like Luka to the lakers except we can’t hope for the afl to give us a handout like cooper Flagg, until the mavs got pick 1 the fallout was massive and the team was an absolute mess
Yeah it's like Luka to the lakers except basketball is much, much more individual sport, Luka never toured opposition facilities, Luka hadn't cracked the sads with the club and asked out, Luka is a top 3 player in the sport, Luka is 26 not nearly 30, Luka played for the only team in a large city, Luka had publicly stated he wants a statue out the front of American Airlines because he wants to be the next Dirk and play 20 years for the team, and Luka the year before the trade had carried his team to the NBA finals.

But other than that yeah it's exactly like Luka to the Lakers /s

That’s a reasonable deal, **** giving back a pick though
Mate, the first rule of negotiations is always decline the first offer.

Anyway, would you like to buy my house? DM me.
I reckon we haven’t told Sydney what we want and this is an offer to actually smoke out our minimum position

I think we should do this deal, we all know Charlie’s flaws (selfish gameplay, low effort on field, lack of leadership and destabilising the club) and we know well his game winning abilities but keeping him in 2026 causes us more harm than good. I don’t want Charlie destabilising us further in 2026

I think Hayward is an immediate best 18 player, we get a first this year to play with and a first next year to help secure Cody Walker. This could immediately improve our connection and get us ahead of the Tasmania-affected drafts

The one piece I’m not keen on is Florent, if it was Campbell I’d be a bit happier. Both would slot into the bottom 6 of our best 23 but I don’t see huge upside on Florent personally.

I think the key thing most are missing with Florent is that he addresses an area of need

Yes, he's not a superstar - but he is immediately our best HBF, Wing or HFF (Unless Walsh plays a LOT of wing of course)

I do agree that Campbell would be a lot better, granted

Maybe they’ve already agreed on a Round 3 pick in return but to soften the blow to Carlton supporters they arranged for the cheeky Pick 22 return offer so fans are happy when it gets reduced to just a third rounder. Classic PR tactics.

This was my thought too. Also helps with the backlash from Sydney fans thinking they gave up too much.

Any chance if we get picks 10 and 11 that we can package them for a higher pick? Richmond, Essendon and West Coast having consecutive top end picks could be looking for more early picks.

I am ok with a couple of good players, f1st and 11 if we can use those two picks to either get another good player by moving up the draft like last year or by for trading them.

I still think we are probably poking the bear a little with those picks and the Suns.

Too many rumours around humphrey and us and the fact he is touring other clubs in Victoria suggests to me he is putting the pressure on the Suns and his desired destination club to make a trade. The Suns need currency to get Petracca and their academy picks. As it stands they probably can't have them all. Send them Picks 10 and 11 for Humphrey and 52. That gets them Petracca and their academy players.

It's one thing to want players and have them agree to a trade. It's another thing to do what is needed to get them.

I don't see us wanting to use picks 10 and 11 in the draft unless it's a super high pick. I think the thing that could be holding the Curnow deal back is the other club. For us to sign off on the curnow trade, we need to have a deal signed off on for picks 10 and 11. That is probably the tricky part. Could it be Humphrey, Butters or another we are targeting with those picks? Who knows, I just don't feel like we will sit on them and take them to the draft and Kahmis is not worth either of them.

Asking to remove Florent from the deal is just silly in my opinion.

It’s not like Sydney and Carlton’s list management teams haven’t been in open dialogue, if his name has come out in an official offer then both parties are happy with him.

Sydney are a competent club. They’re not going to ask a player to pack his bags and then go back later and say “oh wait they don’t want you my bad”.

The official offer coming out means it is essentially done and there will be a drawn out haggle in the media over 22 for drama, then we’ll see Charlie in a red polo next to the Opera House for a photo op.
The fact that Florent & Hayward have been put up means that there managers have come to terms with Carlton for a new contract and that Sydney have either requested or encouraged them to leave.. its now hard for them to go back on that if the deal falls over without resentment.
