Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Charlie is not a bad person but as I have said for 2 years now we have players that are comfortable getting well paid and turning up. There is no drive to be the best and have success. I don’t think there is an issue with Voss etc. He just doesn’t like the all in nature of footy, prefers the quiet life and given where we are and how we have been the last 30 years we can’t tolerate that

I can only assume they haven’t spoken to Carlton because Florent and Hayward are pushing back on any trade. But, still. The whole process (and frankly the trade period in general) is ridiculous.

He’s no Star but he’s a good player and fits what we need.

I find some of the opinions on here staggering

We have really added to our flanks and wings the last few seasons. I rate our young backmen (Carroll, Wilson, Charleson, Cowan, Hollands) and then we add Chesser, Ainsworth and potentially Hayward and Florent. They are areas of need. Oh and Smith is going to play mostly wing/flank IMO and he is genuine quality.

What will our needs be end of 2026? Could be a key forward or O'Keeffe could stand up for us. Could be a dynamic, quick and dangerous onballer. Walker and Smith could be contributing here however I would rather see them win their first premiership playing mostly on the flanks and wings.

I honestly think Carlton are going to be the team that surprises everyone in 2026. If we don't get smashed to bits with injury again there's really no excuse for us.

Florent gives guys like Wilson and Charleson time to develop. He also allows Saad more freedom. The thing that has killed Saad is that he was our only threatening half back last year so he was either tagged as a half back or because Newman was out, he was stuck in the back pocket, where he struggles, playing that role.

The direction our recruitment has taken since Davies and Wright have arrived is a breath of fresh air. They know what we need where before our recruiting lacked direction.

I am sure we aren't done. I think there is another need that is about to be ticked off.

His intriguing has X factor but also has a lot of baggage . If there’s any evidence of him turning his life around I wouldn’t be against a one year contract. I know others might see it different which I understand entirely .

Probably an error bringing him into the leadership group to compound the all encompassing football life, which he is well paid to do and marketed as such for the club.

The new addition of +1 hasn’t settled him (at CFC at least).

Hope everyone knuckles down for a serious tilt in ‘26 but also there’s some fun install for them all club wide along with the supporters.

Not interested in taking a punt on a guy who is 1 indiscretion away from being banned.

Correct, rankings including the Academy picks. We'll get a better idea from Twomey in the leadup to the draft of course, but those rankings indicate that a lot of the "experts" are judging one of Lindsay/Grlj lasting to Pick 14 (where we'd be picking), or the pick just before it. One club reaching for a player type, or liking the intangibles of a player currently assessed as 15+, and those chances improve again.

I like both those guys for us too, but I'd probably be equally satisfied if we came away with a Dovaston, Farrow, Schubert or Cumming instead.

Fair enough. Not sure I'd be equally as satisfied with one of those later options but they aren't bad.
