Absolutely. Both TB and Merrett shared the same concerns over the running of their clubs and not seeing logic in decisions made on and off-field. Lost trust in decision makers to correct current situations.
Not sure on Eagles so much tbh, but this remains something Essendon are still unwilling to acknowledge and address. Hawks in particular Sam is the bogeyman they want to avoid looking hard at their environment. Been this way for over 20 years now
When did I say that HH improves Essendon? He’ll be a solid afl player I have no doubts but definitely not close to the calibre of Merrett.I don't see how swapping Henry Hustwaite for Merrett improves Essendon next year but you do you.
Strong offer?
2 middling teens picks and Hustwaite, who apparently is the guy Hawks shop around in every potential trade.

just propping up the AFL's desire to stay relevant, even in it's darkest and quietest timesTwo clubs I absolutely hate acting like ****ing children. It's beautiful.
But that's essentially what the trade would equate to, because Essendon don't have many list spots and would be happy to use their current draft hand. If it were 2 futures, with one of them likely to be top 10, it'd be a very different scenario. When did I say that HH improves Essendon? I thank you both. Truly God's work.just propping up the AFL's desire to stay relevant, even in it's darkest and quietest times
For 350 pages, Essendon supporters have told us that we need to pay overs for a 30 year old as he is a contracted captain.
They have agreed those overs look like:
Pick 9
F1 (likely pick in the teens)
and Henry Hustwaite (contracted promising 22 y.o)
with some conceding they may have to give something late back.
Hawthorn have offered what most Bombers supporters (in all their bias) were asking for. Hawthorn have even added an additional second rounder on top (and are not seeking anything back).
It's a strong offer (and as has been repeated, the most I think any 30+ year old has ever garnered in a trade*).
*My recollection is the Wayne Carey trade beats it, but Carey is considered by many to be the greatest player of all time (at least top 3), is key position and still worked out terribly for Adelaide.

You realise that isn't the phrase?
Nope, just Essendon. They're the bitches not answering their phones. Two clubs I absolutely hate acting like ****ing children. It's beautiful.
We like our phones to be happy.Nope, just Essendon. They're the bitches not angering their phones.
Hawks front office: ESSENDON WON'T ANSWER THE PHONE ABOUT THEIR CONTRACTED PLAYER WHAT A BUNCH OF MEANYHEADSNope, just Essendon. They're the bitches not answering their phones.
ExactlyYou're looking at it from Hawthorn's POV though, not Essendon's.
I agree it looks good from Hawk's perspective but Essendon wouldn't exactly be salivating at replacing Merrett with Hustwaite, having pick 9, which slips back to pick 14, and a late first rounder next year.
They already have 2x top 10 picks and 2x NGA they're looking to add. Pick 9 does nothing for them this year because they probably won't even have the list spot to use it.
And now North MelbourneEssendon, Carlton, West Coast supporters all in agreeable must be some sort of record for BigFooty
Do some research and come back firstEssendon, the team who lost 13 on the trot can’t find more than 4 list spots, It really makes you laugh. There’s 15 blokes I could wipe off the list without even blinking

You know they signed extra players in the MSD due to their injury issues earlier in the season, right?Essendon, the team who lost 13 on the trot can’t find more than 4 list spots, It really makes you laugh. There’s 15 blokes I could wipe off the list without even blinking

Yep and majority of them are useless, there’s a reason they weren’t on afl lists in the first placeYou know they signed extra players in the MSD due to their injury issues earlier in the season, right?
They've played half a season. Some of them looked good.Yep and majority of them are useless, there’s a reason they weren’t on afl lists in the first place
How many kids are wearing his number next season?Keeping contracted professional footballer is bad business?
wowee
Yeah that Massimo guy is no good heyYep and majority of them are useless, there’s a reason they weren’t on afl lists in the first place
Which ones? They've played half a season. Some of them looked good.
To be honest I think we just promised him we'd make an offer after trying to get him across before his last extensionWell, I mean it was a half-arsed pitch, but certainly not in the same realm as the Merrett/Hawks saga.
