I reckon it has a lot to do with us always being amicable in discussing trades and letting players, who want to go, for unders.

That isnt just Hawthorn players. Every fan undervalues players they want and overvalues players they have. Just looks like the media under value Hawthorn players because the media is the Essendon Mafia.

Reality is we are overvaluing HH a touch and they are undervaluing him a bit and he is probably in the middle. It isnt because he plays for Hawthorn it is more that we see what he does every week and know more about him.

What we see is a kid who dominates at the VFL every week and made the team of the year. What Bombers people see is a guy who cant crack a midfield that is being spoken about as his teams weakest link.

Are we overvaluing HH? I've seen loads of comments suggesting he has no value and is steak knives of a deal for Merrett.

9, F1st + F2nd is very fair value for Merrett.

The deal is we get Merrett, and help them start to rebuild. It isn't we rebuild their whole ****en list.

Idk, Hustwaite is as valuable as a player in the twos can get IMO. I don't think anyone is saying he's worth a huge amount but most are severely undervaluing the fact that he's the best contested / clearance mid at that level.

Idk, Hustwaite is as valuable as a player in the twos can get IMO. I don't think anyone is saying he's worth a huge amount but most are severely undervaluing the fact that he's the best contested / clearance mid at that level.

He is the sort of player they should be taking a chance on, it is what we did when we were down the bottom.

I have no idea if HH will ever be a regular AFL player but when you are rebuilding these low cost players are the ones you can afford to give a chance to. He is not some major part of the trade, he is the steak knives.

Honestly, pick 9(13) in a shit draft they hold picks in already, F1 (16-20) and a F2 (36-40)... I'd want more too. Hustwaite is gone for sweet FA regardless.

It just has a feel of the Dons trying to extract as much possible from us based on our reputation of always overpaying to get deals done.

It won't be a hard backflip for the Dons to accept last night's offer at the last moment based on something like player welfare etc.

And they may feel they can extract even more based on past history.

Hopefully, we stand firm but I won't be surprised to see past history repeated (and in that scenario, we still get a great player in Merrett.
