As much as North are probably deluded in a lot of ways, they’re probably not wrong. I’d still prefer pick 3 thanks North, but Whitlock would’ve been projected to go pretty high in the open pool this year, it being a far less exciting draft and bereft of talls.

Really think we lucked out last year, our haul was special.
North had a chance to pick up Leek Aleer on the cheap, and refused because they’ve got Logue, Corr, Comben, Pink, Whitlock and Dawson.

Pink and Logue turn 28 early next year, and Corr turns 32yo. And none of them are much good. Whitlock and Dawson are unproven.

Aleer has shown elite qualities and is an athletic freak …. it should’ve been a no-brainer for them.

I assume Aleer told North he didn’t want to come because otherwise he does seem the perfect fit for them

Yep must be comfortable either going into deficit or trading the futures they've accumulated for more points.

Seems like West Coast has the power to make Coulson, Addinsal and Murray available in the open pool.
Well they traded their F1 as well in the deal for Petracca so they can't lose that by going into deficit this year.

It was worth it 100 times over for the lols and for giving us the Death Ride. It's interesting though if this draft is comparatively a lot weeker then I presume any of Hotton, Faull, Armstrong move up to like top 5/10 rankings. Gives us a big boost to have all these guys on the list already with a year of development vs heavily investing in this draft like a lot of other clubs.

Best thing too is we got good deals for all our guys last year and maintained an excellent trading relationship compared to the Bummers.

If you were North and has pick 4 in this years draft you’d be going hard for Cumming

He wouldn't. Likely still doesn't go first round.

Will say its funny how much the narrative changers. This time last year some people had Sharp was clear no.1 and would have taken him over Lalor had he been eligible. Greeves was another pick 1 contender. Now anyone from the second round of last year could be a first rounder. Answers lies somewhere in the middle.
He went in the first round of 2024 but can't make the first round of 2025? He's a top 20 lock just by virtue of there being no great open pool key defenders, could well go at one of Melbourne's picks given their needs.

And they keep going on about how Whitlock can be a forward ... Free swing and they pass 😄

Addinsall getting bid on early could be the one that ****s them I guess. If someone just went around 12-15 theyd probably pass.
I don’t have enough draft knowledge to tell if Uwland and Patterson are better than Duursma and Duff-Tyler. But cal Twomey has them top 4.

Richmond’s two picks are worth 4140. Meaning even if we bid for both they can’t match

If west coast bid they are in more trouble

hawks 10 and 22?

they will certainly be recalibrating this morning
I’d consider moving 3 or 4 for those picks.

4 - Grlj
10 - Dovaston
22 - O Taylor

Addresses our outside speed and hits all three areas of the ground….

Is that better than a duo of Robey / Sharp / CDT / X Taylor / Grlj though?

Would not trade 3 & 4 unless Bombers & Melb were involved in trading both their picks or 1 pick & F1.
We have to really benefit or just keep.

Picks 3 & 4 will get us 200 gamers - starting with Sharp, if he is available we should not and cannot say no. He has starred in the U18s & played Senior SANFL against men and played well !!! (Just like Dusty in Castlemaine Seniors)
The same with Cummings, played Senior SANFL this year.

Robey is a BIG risk, we have enough risks with our top picks with injuries (all of them from last year).
I would rather X. Taylor or Grilj rather than Robey.

if our best 22 next season includes 3-4 of
Gibcus, Banks, Brown, Juddy and Sonsie

theyll now be 5 pre seasons into their careers and some will have 30-50 games under their belts

I think that is more inline with the roots of our rebuild then perhaps just when Yze came on and we had a huge cleanout

That 2021 could be big to speed us along

I'd rather have Jobe Shanahan picked at pick 30 by West Coast than pick 3 in this years draft. We might have made a mistake there.

I think Sonsie will be delisted . It's either him or Dow now we took Patrick Retschko I think.

But Cumming missing half the season isn’t a risk?

but you have a better idea of what you are going to get than Robey, 6-8 game package ?

But anything is possible, there is probably 20 kids out there playing with their local team that just need to be given a go in the Coates League and they could shine and get drafted

It’s not about “lack of data” or “drafting notes”. It’s that he wasn’t even in the elite programs throughout his full junior career. There’s not the body of work there, so the risk is much higher and must factor in to some degree.
Nah he looked great the last month or 2 so who cares, just draft the kid, he's safe as houses
