Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
For a PSD pick i would run the gauntlet and select him anyway. He can then choose to sit out the year unpaid or swallow his pride and be the professional footballer and turn up to Alberton for 1st week of training. He will just do a Rankine and not bother to speak to you guys. Apparently grew up a Crows supporter just like Rankine.
Its not about fair price, but by allowing/trading one of your better players to another rival who is competing for the flag you are making it harder on yourself to achieve success. In such a competitive environment I find it odd that clubs are prepared to do this so often.Whats fair price though? Who gets to determine that?
Should we bring in the ACCC or VCAT?
We either help them with Pick 16 or they help us with accepting what we put forward - its Win / Loss no matter which way it falls.
True value was probably the natural pick of 20-25, we got them 29 from Port, but they rejected that.
20-25 Blows out to 30odd which becomes fair, 29 blows out to 35odd becomes unders.
Win / Loss no matter which way you look at it.
It can't be "unpaid", he will write this in his contract and the club who pick him will need to pay whether he sit out for the year or not. I think he will structure his contract at 2 years $1M which is what Twomey mentioned. For a PSD pick i would run the gauntlet and select him anyway. Why do you think trade for wanted contracted players are overs????
Glad the club didnt budge on the ridiculous Brisbane demands.
Its the PSD and we get him for nothing. For those thinking he won't get to the Crows, go watch Cals video about the situation. He said 100% gets to Adelaide, they will structure the contract to where no other club will take it on, and CAC won't even talk to any other club.
Thanks for the free hit Brisbane. Thats three now. Keays, Hinge and CAC.
Brisbane are our most productive trading team, and we have done a trade with them since we let them have a contracted, best 22 small forward in CC when we didnt have to.
7 picks swap is quite massive for a 1st rounder and then asking for F2 on top of that. Maybe we would have done the pick swap with their F2 coming back given they don't even value 2nd rounders.A pick slide and a future second is hardly asking for the world, that is more than fair and reasonable.
Don't want to give it that is fine, I look forward to the next time round when the shoe is on the other foot
We cant help it if Brisbane keep giving us gifts. The embodiment of the Crom trading spirit, ladies and gentlemen.
Fair enough, I have no faith in the AFL but if they want to ensure the inegrity of the whole process they need to make it transparent, and they sign an AFL contract and like all employment contracts there are contractual obligations and turning up to training would be one. West Coast, North, Port will all have enough room in their cap to take the gamble and if he still wants to leave at the end of 2026, the Crows can trade for him.It can't be "unpaid", he will write this in his contract and the club who pick him will need to pay whether he sit out for the year or not. That's the point I was making, Its Win / Loss no matter which way it fell. Its not about fair price, but by allowing/trading one of your better players to another rival who is competing for the flag you are making it harder on yourself to achieve success. Stop talking senseGlad the club didnt budge on the ridiculous Brisbane demands.

Again, F2 was fair (had we offer F3 then the media would be giving us shit for not getting the trade done). A contracted ANB went for pick 28 just last year (his stats this year has been better than Ah Chee and we finished minor premiers), an uncontracted Ah Che is worth pick 30-35 which is the value of our F2.A number of slides were proposed. I don't know what you want Brisbane to do other than accept a junk offer. You have already admitted your offer was not fair. They won't use the third so lets take that out, you recon a pick near 35 is fair? So far it's all Brisbane's fault, what about the other club who didn't at any time propose anything that was near even fair.
He wants to be there for starters.I don't understand why a club with cap space won't take him and just trust Adelaide's medical team has done the work. Seems a pretty low risk given he is a consistent player.
Pick 30-35 next year is fair.He was never worth pick 16. That's unreasonable. But also think the onus was on Adelaide to find a middle ground rather than just sticking to their offer.
Will be a fascinating test for the pre-season draft and player movement in general. Alot of possible picks before Adelaide in the PSD. If he gets to them, it really says, that clubs simply won't take players that don't want to play for them, no matter what and probably tips the balance more towards the players in the future.
I wonder if Port have a crack? Same city. Position of need for them. They've got the cap space. And most importantly they can pick ahead of Adelaide.
He is not going to sit out of the competition if he doesn't get to Adelaide. He is a pro.He wants to be there for starters.
Then he will front end the 1st year to $1.5M and 2nd to $500K, no club is going to pay a player $1.5M to be there for just one year. He will get to us if he still wants to.Fair enough, I have no faith in the AFL but if they want to ensure the inegrity of the whole process they need to make it transparent, and they sign an AFL contract and like all employment contracts there are contractual obligations and turning up to training would be one. But why do they accept this, clubs are far too friendly.. If you had a player like Ah Chee I would just say we are not trading you to a top 8 side and that you either stay or negotiate a deal with a bottom 8 team. Most clubs accept this is just part of the game and it’s kind of swings and roundabouts.
One season you’re losing and player and the next you’re gaining one.
So most clubs will work out fair value and get a deal done.
There is really only 2 clubs who seem to operate differently and that’s Essendon and Adelaide (post Gibbs).
This post clearly demonstrates that you have no understanding of the new dvi, let alone the new bid matching rules that come in to effect in 2026.Pretty sure they need points for Cooper Hodge and some other academy prospect - hence why I thought they would have taken the F2 & F3 - the 500 or so points for those two is much more helpful than 0 points.
Why not, a club like West Coast who are they paying, an extra $500k means fck all and would take that into consideration when trading the following year. Then he will front end the 1st year to $1.5M and 2nd to $500K, no club is going to pay a player $1.5M to be there for just one year. He will get to us if he still wants to.
