Really hope she isnt like those eagle nuffies on their own board that honestly believe they are a chance at trading pick 2 for 5 & 6 or that they are going to bid on Gold Coast kids with pick 1
Jesse is a ripper, he actually does a lot of work with Dylan Alexander on draft stuff as well, very knowledgeable and level headed!

He actually does linger on the WCE BF board as well he mentioned last night!

Interesting in Ry Giechens interview on talking tigers he mentioned how they asked the players who they like playing with and Armstrong and Sims both said each other.

Could see a similar thing with Sharp and Kellaway this year. They complemented each other so well for SA.

We also took Trainor, Hotton and Armstrong who were childhood friends through sport. Think it might be a deliberate strategy the club may be going with to take guys that are close as it will hopefully make it easier to retain them and build a strong culture.

For what it’s worth I want Sharp and Grlj with our two picks and Kellaway later on after our second rounder.

In a perfect world Emmett would be available at 38 but can’t see this happening even though rucks slide.
We should go the SA boys.
4 Sharp
7 Cumming
8 Barker
38 Kellaway.

I really like the look of sharp. People down playing his ceiling imo. Who knows how good he could get? I will also be pumped if the club rate Robey or sizzler or cumming enough to pick them up. They all look like they can play. Call me crazy but there's a hint of chimp in grlj

Many thanks to briztoon for providing clarification on how many points in deficit that can be carried through to the following year.

Apparently it's calculated by how many picks are available and in the Sun's case it's 2 x 2nd rounders and 2 x 3rd rounders which equal 697pts

As it stands they have 3773pts and with bids at 2 & 4 they'll be short by 227pts which means they only have 472pts to play with (697 - 227)

472pts is enough to cover a bid on Addinsal at 27 or later, any earlier and they'll have to pass.

They will, of course, be trying to trade out picks 15 & 18 for later picks with more points, but I can't see them gaining a great amount.

I don't know for sure how many list spots they have but according to Draftguru they currently have 30 on the senior list (after adding Petracca and JUH), 6 rookies and 2 cat B rookies. They currently hold 7 draft picks, so by my reckoning they will still have to delist 1 player. If they want to trade out those 2 x 1sts then more players will have to be delisted to accommodate the extra picks.

I missed this with my calculations this morning.

Addinsall is currently ranked 26th by Twomey.

If WC really want Patterson over CDT they can bid at 1 and 2 and GC won't be able to match. I don't reckon they do though. I think your scenario of Uwland bid at 2 and Patterson bid at 4 is most likely.

IIRC pre-combine testing, a couple of had Grlj around pick 5 or 6 not including Academy players.

There's the danger of taking another player (e.g. Robey please) at 3 and swapping 4 for later picks. We may very well miss Grlj if we ultimately want him.

Post combine he will rise up further.

I think you're right, take Duursma at 1 then bid on Uwland at 2 and take CDT at 3, we then bid on Patterson at 4. They then risk losing Addinsal if he's bid on before pick 27 (and the others)

Of course, if they rate Patterson above CDT then a bid at 3 wouldn't be out of the question, which would see the Suns go 420pts into deficit and only 277pts left to play with. Those points would be enough to cover an Addinsal bid at 37 or later.

Really does beg the question of whether they would pass on Patterson in either of those scenarios to ensure they get the other 4 Academy players (Addinsal, Murray, Coulson and Collins)

In reality it's not much different from splitting an early pick to get a crack at a few others, in this case 4 others.

Retschko is our Grij

some are pumping up Grij to try and get Cumming with a slightly later pick IMO

Retschko, similar enduro, is he slightly slower?? who cares... commentary seems to suggest better mark

If Grij does not get picked up by us, and I hope it is just talk., love to see where he does in fact land after us

If you look at Cumming he is the player Hobbs is not.

So in reverse just say RFC pick Cummings and Sharp. Who would Essendon take???

well then that gets interesting. Would they take Taylor, or Greeves, they have plenty of lighter types, I would be surprised they take Grij. They could take Robey for sure

Not sure why you guys are so pre occupied about GC having enough points to match their academy kids
they have picks 15 , 18 , 24 , 28 , 29 , 36 , 52

During draft night they will get offers to trade back to accumulate more points and match the bids easily
maybe concentrate on players we will/can get rather than dream about players that are only a dream

What if they actually trade out a 2027 F1. That's what I would do, you can always try and trade back into a draft later. They also probably know they may lose Humpries in the future so I don't think they are worried too much.

Lets just assume the eagles take Duurs Ma Ass and CDT and look at the players that are in our range if that happens

Sharp
Robey
Grlj
Cumming
Taylor
Lindsay
Farrow
Marsh

There are 10 players apart from Academy/Father sons that suit our needs and probably another 2 KPP that will fall somewhere in between them.

The recruiters will need to decide if we are so in love with 2 of these players or are there 5-6 that fall in the same group that entice us to split a pick or even 2 picks

For me i would take the player we want the most ( Hope its cumming ) and split the other pick for essendon/melbourne top 10 pick plus a F1 which is wishful thinking but a club like Hawks , Blues will most likely be in the picture

Melbourne would be our best option for pick #7 + GC 2026 1st rounder for a 3 spot slide

Yeah, I guess they still have a few levers to pull.

Carlton have 2 first round picks they will want to trade for points and future picks. Gold Coast will want to do the same with their two firsts. Brisbane will want to trade the better of our first rounders for more points.

I’m not sure there will be enough buyers for these picks.

I'd get _RT_ onto the research if he wasn't so anti-Robey :(

So many strong opinions already and club haven’t even done their rankings as yet 😂
I reckon they would have done their rankings on our potential players by now surely?

But I was told my opinion that the club may not rank Robey as high as the fans do was wrong and here you are saying that they haven't even settled on their rankings yet.

Gold Coast picks wont have any value to acquire future but will entice a club like North to perhaps move their 2 x 2nd rounders ' Maybe ' as the quality between their picks wont be that much different unless there is a player they desperately want that slides.

Carlton are in a strange spot with 2 picks that are around their dean bid and i think they may hold until a bid comes hopin 1 is enough to cover the bid and they can take the next selection - Hopefully Essendon or Melbourne bid to force their hand

I cant see any clubs coming for Brisbane's picks that would give them a big points advantage or anything in the future and cover the academy player this year
