train only with the mids this year. He could be a excellent option to work with newc and Day. Obviously, Ward and Mackenzie would have to learn to play off half frwd and wing to rotate. Lions do this extremely well and we did in threepeat side. More flexibility would allow us rested mids in the last qtr of hard games.
Maybe this will be the thinking if we're interested in Elijah Hollands as he can run as a high half frwd all day. Just gotta do our due diligence though, approach with caution.

Following the draft nonsense thrown up by Essendon, how good would it be to see Harry H put in a massive pre- season, line up in the game against Essendon kick four goals in a Hawthorn win!!

Should we? I think he’d be a good replacement for Worpel.

Don’t think Tom’s throat could accommodate all the pride he’d need to swallow. Surely it’s off to a rebuilding side for him.

Wouldn’t it be both ironic and awesome if we picked up Ben Hobbs as a DFA and turned him into a good midfielder. He was the best inside mid in 2021 by some distance and scum never really played him there. Not saying the game breaker but could easily be a worpel replacement, comes for free and is 22. Worst case he plays box hill as depth which we need anyway, I think in a good system played in position he’s worth a shot. With no trades in we have 6 open spots to fill.

Interested if a list spot is left open for the train/sign on phase or even left until the mid season… hopefully attracts a few to Box Hill under the new coach.

You've gone very early there, given that even pre-season is still a month or so away.

Here's hoping HH proves some people as wrong as Meek did a couple of years ago, when there were confident claims that there was no way he was going to go past Reeves.

I hope I’m wrong but Sam had all but stamped his papers. He just doesn’t have the pace for this midfield and not much can be done to fix that.

It would be great if he could prove us wrong but I really don’t think it will happen.

He's only 180cm.

Not that quick, and not the best kick going around.

But the contested side to his game is so elite in surprised nobody has given him a shot.

I remember that.

Wasn't the argument that was Reeves the best tap-ruck ever - in the 5m circle.

Despite not really ever touching the ball outside of it......

Been some bonkers claims on here but that one was the best!

I would be happy to take a punt on Brew or Craig-Peters from the VFL.

I think they could both be solid contributors at AFL level/depth options and we have lost a bit of depth this season.

As it happens, that didn't eventuate and we've also lost Worps from our midfield mix.

There's a spot there for HH if he truly wants it but yes, he'll absolutely need to earn Sam's trust over the pre-season. An in-and-under replacement for Worps seems his best chance.
