I'm just thinking the players we select at 3 & 4 need to have multiple skills.... do players like Grijl for examples have that? For example it seems Cumming gets his own ball, can play outside & kicks goals. That's the type of player I'd be looking at at our picks. Just an example, it's bang for selection...

Cumming & Sharp are the players im hoping for as midfielders

Taylor is an interesting player
Im not sure if he has been played midfield at all but he has so much Elliot Yeo like traits about the way he plays half back

This draft most teams will be selecting for needs as Duursma is probably the only complete footballer

Sharp is an stoppage specialist though midfield only and not elite athlete
Grjl is an athletic half back flank learning to be a midfielder
Robey is a forward learning to be a midfielder
CDT is a midfielder trapped in a ruckman's body
Xavier Taylor is a medium defender that can defend tall and small but probably doesn't have the endurance and speed to go with the elite athletes (6.39 2km, 3.1 20m sprint)

To answer your question about Cumming watch his SANFL seniors BOG performance in only his 2nd game at the level

He gets inside and extracts, he positions himself front and centre of marking contests nicely, he has nice forward craft marking well on the lead and overhead contests. He probably is the most complete footballer after Duursma.

I assume you mean versatility?

Grlj was a shade under 6 clearances a game until wildcard injury. Ended up averaging 4.7 or something. He can play midfield, wing or HBF. Pretty much kicked a goal a game for chargers too, again til the injury. But more as a mid drifting forward and finding space l/on the run vs an actual forward.

Cumming is a much better overhead mark, forward and inside mid though. Grlj is much faster and a different class of line breaker.

Both love the physical stuff but Grlj is far closer to a Mansell level agitator and on edge physicality type. He is a little bit psychotic.

The others at our pick

XT is purely a HBF who can play tall. Did show a half of good footy in middle but Robey took that spot.

Robey is genuinely a KPF up forward and dead eye dick for goal, obviously can play midfield too.

Sharp has shown smarts off HBF and is a very good mid sized forward option. Leads well and has good hands overhead. Kicking at goal but iffy.

I was thinking the same, Cumming & Sharp.
An Elliot Yeo type could be handy, but I'm not sure at our current pics?

I was thinking if we trade back with Melbourne
#3 & #38 to melbourne if their Robey interest is real for #7 & #8

#4 - Cumming
#7 - Grlj
#8 - Taylor

I think I posted a combination of Grilj , Sharp & Cumming (2 of) would be my preference at this stage. Yes versatility or ability to play different roles or have multiple strengths or prospects of developing them?

I think you make that trade if Melbourne offer ... though I don't see Taylor getting past Essendon

Sharp and Taylor suit Essendon's needs best ... if this is how it unfolded I would take Grjl at 7 and try and trade 8 to Essendon for their future 1st

(There is a chance that the Bombers go for it as they are trying to keep Merrett - they need to get better this off season, not next to persuade him to stay)

And they could land Aidan Schubert as they desperately need a Ruck/Forward ...

Schubert was the SANFL U18 MVP averaged 19 disposals, 7.5 marks, four clearances and three inside 50s in kicked 28 goals his 13 appearances at SANFL U18 level.

Bombers have added Fiorini who will help and if they would have to think that if they were healthy they could play finals (not that I think that)

That would also be another good result
Cumming & Grlj in 2025
Richmond & Essendon 1st rounders in 2026

And it is a realistic scenario ... though we probably get the better of both those trades both Melbourne and Essendon have legitimate reasons why it would be a good trade for them

I can see Melbourne doing a trade with the eagles for pick #2 if they have a hard on for a particular player
#7 + #8 for #2 + #13
Of course theyd do that. WC wouldn't though lol
