What we say on here has no bearing on outcomes anyway. We could be talking him up as a pick 1 fancy, wouldn't make a scrap of difference to where he actually gets rated and picked on the night.

Ison looks not up to AFL standard. Dean is also in that category. Late 5th rounder at best please. Or a rookie spot
Geez we really have been royally screwed on Father Son points this year.
The ONLY scenario I see us getting both Dean and Ison this year is;
IF Dean isn't bid on before Pick 11 AND Gold Coast agree to a live Pick Swap of our picks 9+43 for their 18 & 24 (for Ison).
Further to this, If we don't Finish at least 12th and Sydney finish in the top 5, we are screwed for points for Walker.

No, they just list the order of picks that we would have if we opened up that many spots.
We currently have 1 list spot.
My best guess is that we’ll cut 3 more before the 31st October so that we can take our 4 picks with points attached to the draft.

Yep. Also, played alot of school footy.
I’ve heard we are putting pressure on with a Dean bid to trade 6 plus seconds for 9 and 11. Probably a win win for both clubs but you’d think would happen live on the night so as to protect you from a Richmond bid before just in case.
I wasnt suggesting for a second he has or will have the ability of Scott Pendlebury, just that he reminded me of him the way Ison moves (posture, gait and kicks left footed).

Yeah last 3-4 games of the season. Played on ball for Scotch too after the champs series. Early in the year he was restricted to a flank as he was coming back from injury and a bit underdone.

So if we delist / lose these guys:

We have to take 3 in the draft. Ison / Dean plus we most likely retain Gov. Leaves 1 spot I guess?
There's definitely a case to be made for trading with ess to fill that last spot with a higher draft pick. They're not great to tade with though so this is speculative.

I remember him playing in the intra club games for Carlton during preseason and he stood out there.
Very unfortunate for him if he was injured early in the season but saves us a lot of draft points.
The kids like him that are already locked to a club and are rated in the 20+ range usually get all but forgotten by the other clubs who dont waste their time on them. Both Campos last year slid way further than they would have if they were open to other clubs.
Nobody knows if Flynn Young is contracted or not. Say he is, I’d guess those last 3 on your list will be cut, but we may well commit to re-draft Gov through either Rookie Draft or SSP.
I’d be surprised if we take more than 3 in the National Draft, but think we’ll head to the draft with 4 live picks for the extra points.

Not really.
As long as we plan to draft a 3rd player, and Dean is not bid on before 6 (9), we would get an earlier choice of player, plus extra points which would filter from the Dean bid to extra coverage for a Ison bid.
Even if our preferred players go in the first 5 live picks, it would still be a win/win. Unless we want to trade out one of our firsts for a 26R1.

I’d be very interested in finding a way to get him too.
If we did the trade with Essendon to get their pick 6 and picks in the 20s to cover a Dean bid, I wonder if West Coast might not rate CDT as a need and would be open to trade pick 2 for pick 6 and a 2027 first round pick. If they had 3-4 options they were equally comfortable with, it just gives them a bonus first rounder.
It could be ok. Im not sure the threat would change alot since we'd be factoring in a bid around that stage anyway. But it might be a deal we are happy with regardless.
Although we might be just as happy to trade you 11 plus 43 for your 3 seconds and leave you with 6. Thats if we want to get an F1 in for 9 rather then another pick before Dean
Depends how we rate the draft and what they do with bidding rules.
In either case bombers seem like the most logical trade partner for us.

Just gets down to what ess want more so than Carlton. I think we'd do that deal in a heartbeat. I can't see anyone bidding on Dean prior to 6. It would just be a bastard act with no particular upside to the club doing it.
Tom Greene for example was rated top 3 in his draft. Slid all the way to 10 I think.
But do ess want 3 picks in the top 11 or 2 picks in the top 6? They might decide the talent doesn't run that deep.
How’s that protect us from a Richmond bid?
Why would you want to pressure clubs when you also have Bewick next year?

Richmond won’t bidding on Dean, so it sounds like “your club” possibly have its own agenda…

Reckon it'd be a good one too if it came off.
Robey would be well and truly gone, but someone like Schubert should be right in the wheelhouse. Getting our bookends sorted with Dean and HO'F down back, and Schubert up forward, is a bit like the 2015 draft revisited.
Either way, if we did end up with Schubert, Dean and Ison in the draft to cap off our trade period, that'd be a great result.
Sure i understand that may be the case, the posters words are that they “ESS” themselves are putting pressure on us for a Dean bid…
Sounds like a tactic to extract our first rounder/s from us, if that is indeed the case…

Bewick is the year after in the 2027 draft, but your point still remains. Others can play that game and karma’s a bitch.
Essendon might be better off collaborating with teams to get another 27R1 pick rather than putting teams off side. Otherwise they might have to trade Merrett next year for some 2027 picks…

So the bombres say - we will bid on Dean so trade pick 6 for pick 9 and 11? If they bid on Dean at 6 we'd still get him but 11 would slide back a bit.
So there's not much pressure being applied. They'd still have to include later picks to make it work.

There is no way to "protect" from a Richmond bid that I can see. If want to they can.
I would rate the chances of rich bidding on Dean at somewhere between 0 and 1%.
