Brownlow & Club Champion voting says otherwise.rankine as pure player (take leadership out) is no1.
But when judging a player's importance to a team you can't take leadership out of the equation.rankine as pure player (take leadership out) is no1.

Oh, you're kidding .....nah, you probably aren'tNot yet.
He's #4 at the momen, behind Dawson, Thilthorpe & Worrell imo.
the best player is the one that wins matches and that is rankine. thilthorpe is already 2. dawson 3.Not yet.

Rankine hasn't won a single best and fairest, or all australian. That's the answer.the best player is the one that wins matches and that is rankine. thilthorpe is already 2. dawson 3.
He hasn't played every possible match either! But hey if you ignore a number of factors he's clearly our best player.Rankine hasn't won a single best and fairest, or all australian. That's the answer.
He's our most brilliant player, but his lack of consistency means that he's not our #1 player overall. He hasn't played every possible match either! But hey if you ignore a number of factors he's clearly our best player.
Yes that's my view also. No one says he can't be brilliant when he clearly can and has been. He's our most brilliant player, but his lack of consistency means that he's not our #1 player overall.
I’d gohold on you have rankine third?![]()
Sounds about right, I’d have Soligo lower though, and Curtin/Max a bit higherI’d go
1. Dawson
2. Thilthorpe
3. Rankine
4. Worrell
5. Rachele
6. Soligo (not solely on 2025 but generally)
7. Keane
8. Keays
9. ANB
10. Michalanney
11. Laird
12. Curtin
I’ve said it a few times, I’ll explain it again for you Ciao. I believe we will carry some mental scarring from our capitulation in the finals, straight sets, failure to win a quarter, midfield exposed, Nicks coaching stupidity evident for all to see.
Throw in a tougher draw, we won games by holding on against a barrage like we did against Brisbane and Collingwood, other teams on the improve and will we have such a healthy list?
IMO it won’t take too much for us to finish 9-11 and get a top 10 pick and the draft won’t be as compromised with the changes, hence “decent” pick. No suggestion of pick 1, that’s moronic.
I picked us 3rd for the year, we finished 5th. My concerns about Nicks stupidity hurting us in finals came to fruition. Let’s hope I’m wrong this time.
Yeah 9-12 is pretty interchangeable IMO so I just went off consistency. I realise Soligo is probably a bit high considering his 2025 season but I’m very confident in it being a blip more than sign of things to come, and I think the difference between him those below him is marginal enough to accomodate that. Ah Chee probably battles out 13th with Milera IMO.Sounds about right, I’d have Soligo lower though, and Curtin/Max a bit higher
If Ah Chee is as advertised, he slots in somewhere in that bottom third, too
We didn’t play the grand finalists at their homes grounds, that’s a clear advantageI’m not sure about this tougher draw stuff - we played Hawks, Collingwood and Gold Coast twice this year and given we finished 1-6 we will play twice or three of the top 6 this year - those 3 teams plus Brisbane and Geelong. So it will be similar.
The only difference is we don’t get to play West Coast or Roos twice next year as Port finished in bottom 6 so will probably only play them twice out of the bottom 6 plus two teams that finished 7-12 twice.
I still cannot fathom why after an eternity of an awful midfield that NVB's job has never been questioned.
I know you need the cattle, but our group seems to be so tactically inept that opposition can literally tell you how they are going to beat us and then do it unencumbered.
Surely with Burgess off the books soft cap could've allowed us to aggressively target some great assistant coaches. Hombsch seems great, but Rahilly leaving has clearly hurt and Burns/NVB seem very much like yes men. The problem is that the man they say yes to is about as straight lines, unimaginative as you can get.
And a few coaches...Had a few mates.
If only Rankine was the player who won us most games...the best player is the one that wins matches and that is rankine. thilthorpe is already 2. dawson 3.
This! He's our most brilliant player, but his lack of consistency means that he's not our #1 player overall.
Thought assistants need to be finalised by early August and we were flying at that stage.
