Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Why would it be 4 Firsts? He'll be in Free Agency, so the price will be whoever offers slightly more than what Port Adelaide would get for him in Free Agency. Suspect 1 pick higher than Port Adelaide's first next year and one additional First round pick would get it over the line. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think those forced trades can be that crazy can they?
unless they match his contract offer

I think we need him because he’s tall, he’s versatile (can go forward and back) and I think he’s better option than either Phillips and Grainger-Barass.

We’ll have to live with his moronic brain fades for at least one more year. 😏
No way should he play in the D50.
F50 or VFL.

If McGovern stays, and if Harry Dean takes his back position, would we look at him for positional change to forward line? Give him a crack first their to maybe help with 'the other guy' leaving?

This is the only way forward for Gov. Attitude and application must change as well.

Rank the following in order of 'worse possible scenario' to 'I can live with it':

TDK All Australian
Jack Silvagni plays every game
Buku Khamis has a breakout year
Saints win a final
Charlie wins Coleman

Top of the list:
Durdin wins the Brownlow

Bottom of the list:
Charlie goes goalless three games in a row

Fairly clear that we’re missing:
1 more explosive small forward
1 more dynamic midfielder
1 more key defender
Another key forward.

With 4 key pieces needed, I’d say we are out of the running for Butters and we may be looking like another offseason like this one.

Perhaps a throw at the stumps at Bailey Humphrey and then collecting a few b-graders.
I think we need a medium defender big forwards have never been the issue, we get destroyed by small forwards and medium forwards week in week out

I would let Gov go. Part of the old problem

Apparently, Wade Derksen is a quality person and available. Only 24 and IMO as good as Khamis. Plays a similar role and just delisted by GWS as they re signed Aleer and apparently LaVerde

I’d look at him and Philips

Is the club looking at them? Who we'd all look at is kind of irrelevant.

Ben Hobbs might be a good rookie list option. Brad Scott ruins players. He would be horrible to play for
Tough but very slow. Can only play inside mid. Same position and style (but nowhere near as good) as Cripps and Hewett. We also have Lord and B. Camporeale as back ups (although I think Lord is better than back up). Hard no there for mine. Put him down as another Dodo special.

He is a exact clone of lachie fogarty should be a mid but will get pushed forward as a pressure forward

Either way he is out of contract port Adelaide dont really have a leg to stand on even if they match he can still walk to the pre season draft
And be picked up by the Kangaroos or another team that he doesn't want to go to? Very unlikely.

Port will match whatever bid is made on him as an R.F.A. and force a trade. I'd imagine it would take two early first rounders or 3 late to pick him up. The key would be to get him to nominate you first up.

To be fair if Jagga shows the promise that we hope that he does and Cody comes on like we hope that he does then I'm not sure that he's a priority for us, excellent footballer that he is.

It's been 14 years and people still don't get what Moneyball is. Moneyball was never about the 'players'. It's about nothing more than "on base %". That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. It has no relevance to any other sport or buying players.

I get what Moneyball is, but I was just using the quote from the character "None of em" - with respect to all the delisted tall options for us to list, as it was relevant to my opinion. ;)

Would prefer to use McGovern this year as "cannon fodder" rather than throwing Harry Dean to the wolves, bring him in only for the third tall forwards, with the occassional crack at the second tall forward and hopefully Harry O'Farrell is good to go in 2027, maybe for 3 or 4 games at the end of 2026 if he's OK.

Carlton for mine and 2026 balance need to find a JSoS replacement. Let's Haynes do his thing as an interceptor.

They should finish with Mgovern as haynes is better as interceptor and Mcgovern doesnt like to play second key potato defender like JSoS was willing to.

I'd give kudos to Carlton if they could recognise this during this off-season. Young is like Mcgovern but in that he gets stressed in lockdown defence and is terrible below knees. Doesnt mark close enough because he wants to be an interceptor but we have a better one in Haynes.

I'd pick up Frost just for the big body and one year. Obviously there isnt much to choose from because they missed a trick. Buku is not a JSoS replacement, he was a Mcgovern replacement.

Frosty? Talk about jumping out of the fire and into the frying pan. His body works in a different time zone from his brain.
