I'd be happy to pick someone if we thought they would become a decent medium (lockdown) defender. Outside of Mills and 1 year of Rampe, we don't have any. We've had Fox and Paton go just this year, not that the latter was successful.I'd love to see us take all 5, especially if we can see a future for Kyle and McNamara beyond medium defenders.
Ok. Just a few differences between Logan and Riley. For a start Riley is talker. His frame is also far bigger. He is bigger boned. If Logan came back with the weight Tilthorpe, 110kg, did, he's break bones. Too heavy. He is a different type. More mobile, slimmer build and frame. Let's just get him on the park, fit, healthy and mobile. Play him up the ground a bit and let him run toward goal.I am hoping Logan comes back like Thilthorpe did...farken unittt
I know i replied to you. I love your response by the wayOh.
Didn’t realise there was a bar for non ground breaking comments. My bad.
Please send me the full list of non ground breaking issues and I will do my best to conform.

Haven't lots of clubs bid on our players and on other players including in some cases getting those Academy players. Why would a club think that way. I cant see it personally. The strategy from our club was that they actually wanted the player they bid on . It wasn't playing poker. So I guess this is the year that Bidney comes back to bite is on the bum
Never really understood the strategy behind it

King, Carmichael, Kyle in the main draft. So does everyone think we are going to be picking up King, Chamberlain and Carmichael?
Good point Liz, totally agree.I’ll add that the decision on the two should be separate (from each other).
Rampe will turn 36 partway through next season. Lloyd turned 32 a month ago.
Rampe has shown some wear and tear in recent seasons. Lloyd has remained remarkably durable.
Rampe is limited in the roles he can play, particularly with his declining athletic abilities. Lloyd can play a few different roles.
If Ramps were to play on, it would almost certainly be for just one season. Lloyd potentially has at least two seasons left in him. If we were to part ways, I suspect another club might take him, possibly offering a two year contract.

I suspect McNamara will be closest to that. Disciplined. Fox is a loss. His job on Cameron in 2022 was epic.I'd be happy to pick someone if we thought they would become a decent medium (lockdown) defender. Outside of Mills and 1 year of Rampe, we don't have any. Rampe was 183cm at sometime in the past. Now Rampe is 188cm.None of them are Rampe types as you put it. Rampe was 183cm. Serong is 194cm, Edwards 197cm, Snell 194cm, Andrew 193cm. not all forwards are 200cm. Only 7 in the whole comp. Tilthorpe, Darcy, Ben and Max King, McKay, Neale, Chol, The rest range between 191 and 199, Most tall forwards are in the 192-196 range. I don't think any of our Key Backs are in the Rampe undersized range at all. I don't care who is untried. You have to try them to see if they are any good. The other thing is truly top quality key Defenders don't grow on trees. See what happened with Essendon, they thought they were getting Stephen Silvagni in McKay, who they got was an interceptor who is pretty shit at defending. If you take away Stewart's intercept game he isn't much good at defending either. True lock down defenders are rare as Hen's Teeth,
We have Tommy and Melly, both have played the majority of the last 3 years. Edwards, who until injured last year was developing very nicely as a key Defender, and his opponents rarely hit the scoreboard. He is 197cm and about 100keg. He's a Big Boy. plus the bugger can really play. He is incredibly strong and makes me think of Reg. But you probably don't know who Reg is, you might be a bit too young.
The only other addition is that Rampe role hasn’t been replaced as yet. We have a dearth of AFL standard medium defenders.I’ll add that the decision on the two should be separate (from each other).

Great call, a real sliding doors moment when we we let Josh Dunkley slip on by, has been a thorn in our side ever since and Swans Father/Sons have not been plentiful at all.Had we handled Andrew Dunkley's end better than we did, we would have had his son Josh playing for us since 2016.
I think Rampe is unique in many ways. The only other addition is that Rampe role hasn’t been replaced as yet. We have a dearth of AFL standard medium defenders.
Lloyds has plenty of competition for his role at present but I agree with your synopsis.
Hopefully a transition year for Rampe and Lloyd is a TBC depending on performance. He is a slight type, durable and hasn’t lost much in running ability, could play a few more years.
Hopefully when he is 42 he can pinch hit in the ruck.Rampe was 183cm at sometime in the past. Now Rampe is 188cm.
Like Goodes. Could he have been Goodes like?Hopefully when he is 42 he can pinch hit in the ruck.
IIRC, Dunkley, Kelly and Schwass all finished up in 2002. Roos had input into Dunkley retiring and wanted to move on from him. Proved to be the correct move. Long time for him to hold a grudge.Had we handled Andrew Dunkley's end better than we did, we would have had his son Josh playing for us since 2016.
Spot on RustyI think Rampe is unique in many ways.
1. Undersized mid/defender that had leap and pace to compensate for his lack of height being KPD on the monsters
2. Footy brain plus pace plus 188cm is relatively unique.
3. Left footer with a very big kick.
4. Thinks outside the square. Unique. A source of great help to other defenders.
5. The general of the backline. Organises. Played goalkeeper by way of his pace intercepting balls heading for goal.
6. Thoughtful and inciteful. The thinking man's footballer. Loved his speech at the AGM on resilience refering to a player who had endured a lot throughout the year, and persisted, and got there or did not. I don't remember. But he persisted.
My biggest regret is that he did not play as a big bodied mid.
He would have been awesome.
A stoic defender and a defender of a grudge! Was unfashionable but seriously effectiveIIRC, Dunkley, Kelly and Schwass all finished up in 2002. Roos had input into Dunkley retiring and wanted to move on from him. Proved to be the correct move. Long time for him to hold a grudge.
No doubt he was a great player for us. Don't reckon he'd get a gig these days with his kicking.A stoic defender and a defender of a grudge! Was unfashionable but seriously effective
I wonder if we let Hayward go because we drafted Bowman last year and will take King this year? Surely one of the 2 has to develop into a decent player?
So we need a talker. Wow!!Ok. Just a few differences between Logan and Riley. For a start Riley is talker. His frame is also far bigger. He is bigger boned. No current season stats available
Bowman has been playing in defence in the VFL as the third tall/rebounder whatever you call it.
Wouldn’t have come into it simply put had to give something to get Curnow in. He had value, Florent didn’t really aside from the salary dump
