Duncan is here to impart the Cat's IP around defence. We've got plenty of coaching experience around with Woosha overseeing things.

I think the idea for most coaches during a rebuild is to build a coaching team that grows with the players. Mini has his philosophy and has spent this year figuring who he needs to get in to make it happen. He's made big strides in that regard after exposing the whole list to AFL, identifying targets to bring in (so far two experienced defenders and hopefully Dev for midfield) and moved on those that don't want to be in for the journey (Allen, Ryan and Chesser chose to leave).

The aim is to win a flag (hopefully in 5 years in 2030) and the start is building the foundation and then growing together.

Agree 100% with all of that but think we could also do it with more experienced assistants eg. Melb/King got Matty Scarlett who has experience and is really highly regarded.

McQualter was an assistant coach for nearly a decade or thereabouts so he’s got a reasonable degree of experience in his own right

Whilst they’re not high profile names, Radford and Bello have been in and around AFL coaching for several years. Bello was coach of the Box Hill Hawks into 2014-15 for example

Shuey is still a novice and Duncan will be in his first year but has 300 games at the best run club in the competition

We also have Pyke and Worsfold at the club to give advice if/when needed as well as Harry Taylor

There is a decent amount of experience in the building

Matthew Clarke the ex Adelaide AFLW coach and former Adelaide ruck coach might be someone worth pursuing in some sort of dual ruck and development role. He would have done fair bit of development coaching AFLW, and they won two premierships under his tenure. Stated he wanted to be connected to the game still, seems he might not want the responsibility of being head coach.

Good find.
He could do a dual role across the AFL & AFLW side, very well credentialed and would be a massive boost for Daisy's team as well as some type of development role across both programs.

I’ve been taking the piss with Goldy but with Nic Nat turning down the ruck coach role, we should actually have a look at goldy as player/coach for a year. More than happy to **** Barnett off and pay him out so we don’t lose a list spot

Dan Hannebery spotted driving into MRP :eyes:

Mates with Kieran Jack from their Sydney days

What’s he even doing now?

Edit - works in real estate so nothing to do with football

Kilgallon off to the Western Force. Hopefully not a backwards step as we actually looked like we were making progress in sizing up the yoof to AFL standards since he got here.
I hope we have a replacement sorted, the 1-4 year players are due back to training in three weeks

Shame to see Kilgallon moving

Hard to know from the outside but he was the first part of improving our strength and conditioning and was popular with the players based on the little comments from them over time

Could be why the force poached him?

Wonder if this is a sign of moving money in the soft cap to other areas of development. Do we put more money into skills training somehow and move it away from more general S&C?

Or he may have looked elsewhere due to he and our new high-performance guy not being on the same page?

Possible, but I'm pretty sure this isnt the case. Merriman and Innes were quite close and have very similar philosophy to high performance. I guess he might be jilted at being passed over for the HP gig or something.
