Or maybe he should be just a midfielder??
I know ... crazy idea ... but if he can't jump and he can't tap he ain't a ruckman
why not be both? thats what im saying. rucks are already a part of the midfield he just has the ability to transfer from ruckman to genuine midfielder in the same contest. hence the unicorn tag he gets. there's nothing to say he couldnt become a great tap ruck on top of this, he's 18, rucks usually take 5 years to develop.

WC better get 9 rather than 11. Otherwise GWS could do 12 & 35 and jump WC 🤣🤣
GWS dont really have to do anything though. The Dean bid (I'm assuming it comes at Essendons 2nd pick at latest) will push out Carlton's pick 11 to pick 13 or 14.

I'm saying if WC take 11 to leapfrog GWS, GWS could in turn jump to 9 lol

7 players is not even remotely close to ample coverage for 6 spots.

Don’t disagree we need mid depth as well but I think it would be naive to discount Xavier Taylor cause we think we have coverage after Vlastuin and broad retire.
We won't be in any rush to fill every list hole in this off-season. There'll be plenty of 'panic' in here if we don't get leg speed or don't choose any pure mids etc... but the core of the list build will take another 2-3 years. And we might bypass midfield leg-speed and everyone will melt.......then we bring in Zac Bailey. Or leave ourselves light on for medium defenders..then we bring in Wilmott....and so on.... Keep in mind most 'big fish' acquisitions are 12-18 months in the making, so we probably already have a couple on the hook.

Just watched craft of the drafts mock draft 2.0 and they had CDT going #13.... absolutely 0 chance he goes outside the top 10 let alone past the dons first 2 picks
Dyl Alexander has finally stopped clickbaiting with his last ranking. Was taking the piss previously

I reckon the way Sharp plays suits the Tigers faithful. Tigers crowd will love him and he probably them because of the way he goes about it and we help lift our other players to

he is not perfect, that is okay, most of our players are not perfect. most of our fans are not perfect either, lol

My personal top 10 from the open pool after combine:

1. Willem Duursma - clear number 1 option in the open draft. Can be put just about anywhere on the field and have an impact. Will he finally be a Duursma that actually delivers?

2. Cooper Duff-Tytler - a 201 cm ruck/forward with sub 3 second 20m & 6.20 2km time is a rare mix for a big guy and if WCE let him slip past them, we're either going to get mad offers from Essendon/Melbourne to trade up for him or we're going to get a kid who could be our next number 1 ruck and alongside Sims would form a decent ruck/forward combo in time.

3. Sam Grlj - everyone keeps saying that our midfield lacks speed and spread from the contest, which is precisely what Grlj brings to the table. 2.9 over 20m and sub 6 minutes for 2km, this kid ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to addressing a big need for our midfield mix. Not only that but he showed in his stint in our VFL program that playing against men isn't an issue as he adapted quickly and wasn't afraid to put his head over the ball when needed, then when he got it, showed his willingness to take the game on with run and carry.

4. Sam Cumming - just like Grlj, Cumming would be another to add speed and endurance to our midfield mix. At the combine he also ran a sub 3 second 20m time & 6.33 for 2km. He also showed that playing against men isn't going to be an issue for him as he averaged 17 disposals 4 tackles & 4 clearances in his 3 senior games before a season ending injury, with his 2nd game also producing 3 goals. While there may not be many fans of us taking the 2 Sams in the draft I believe opinions would quickly change once they got to show their talents alongside the likes of Lalor Smille & Hotton as part of our next generation midfield.

5. Sullivan Robey - despite what some may think is me not rating Sully with some posts I've made in recent times, I actually am a big fan of the kid who has come from the clouds to firmly establish himself among the top 10 in the open pool, some would even say top 3. All through the year the kid has shown his talents whether he was playing for Rowville in the EFL or with the Ranges in CTL. If we happen to call his name out on draft night I won't be disappointed in the slightest.

6. Dyson Sharp - drops down from being my number 1 option last month in part due to the lack of testing at the combine, however that doesn't mean the kid isn't worth taking. He was probably the most consistent performer throughout 2025 as he led SA to an undefeated National Champs title, dominated his 2 SANFL U18s game, and also played senior footy for Centrals where he showed playing against men isn't going to be a problem. Main reason I have him and Robey behind the Sams is due to their ability to add run and carry to our midfield mix, which I strongly believe our midfield needs.

7. Xavier Taylor - if we were able to snare the Dees 2 R1 picks for them to trade up and get either Robey or CDT(relax it won't happen but a man can dream), Taylor would be the player I'd love to add to the 2 Sams. He'd be able to slot into our D50 and become Vlastuins understudy for a couple of seasons. He can shut down an opponent, intercept incoming ball and provide run and carry on the rebound. There isn't much more you want from a defender in the game today.

8. Aidan Schubert - not really a need as far as we're concerned, but there is little denying that this kid is the 2nd best tall in the open pool behind CDT. Kicked 39 goals from 18 games for the year across U18, Nationals & senior footy to highlight his ability up forward. Whoever manages to pick him up in November will be getting a quality kid.

9. Lachy Dovaston - easily the best small forward in the open pool Dovaston is quite capable of making an immediate impact in 2026 for whichever team drafts him. Same may question his ranking here, but having a goal kicking small forward in todays game is a must have IMO.

10. Jacob Farrow - I've liked this kid for a while and he finally climbs into my top 10 rankings. He acquitted himself at every level he played this year averaging just under 25 disposals & 5 tackles a game at Colts level & just under 18 disposals & 4 tackles in WAFL seniors, which again highlights that playing against mature bodies early on wouldn't be an issue for the kid in 2026. Would likely start across HB early on before eventually moving into the midfield as he develops his game & matures.

Missing out from September are: Greeves Marsh & Lindsay.

I just love how they have to play down other players when trying to make a point. LOL

Had no idea Lalor is a wannabe Sharp

I feel like we are going to appear that we have overreached on draft night. Will a be a few pissed off posters. I Reckon Grlj and Taylor are highly likely to be drafted by the club. I hope we don't get Taylor (thats just my personal preference) but getting a feeling it might happen.

Personally, I'd like Cumming & Grlj or would even be happy with Robey & Grlj. I know Cumming & Robey are 2 different types of players but I reckon we need both, so getting at least 1 would be a good result. It does concern me that I read we hadn't interviewed Robey until the combine.

I don't mind CDT either but after last year's draft, do we really need him? Is the knock on him as a ruckman legit or just an argument people bring up to prove a point why we shouldn't get him.

Sharp? if we pick him then fine, but I'd rather the other 2 players. I hope we don't try and trade up, i don't think we will, if anything we could trade down but that offer would have to be substantial so less likely to happen IMO.

I think he could easily become as equally important as Prestia was in our dynasty.

Meatball became such a vital cog to our midfield and he always stood up in finals when the whips were cracking as a hardened inside midfielder who would tackle like a man possessed in the pressure cooker finals.

He may not have had the spotlight like Dusty, Cotch or JR8 but always played a huge part in our September dominance.

He really is a midfielder, not a ruckman, probably just had to play ruck his whole life because he was the tallest kid.

This is my concern with him, if we judged him as a midfielder how does he stack up against the other options? Pretty poorly I'd guess so you are relying on him being a ruck that adds midfield craft but likely gets smashed in his position, ruck.
