Wow. We have vastly differing views on EH.

We have a lot of super nice diligent professional guys on our list who couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo inside f50. Elijah is one of our very few elite kicks.

We don't have the depth of kicking talent on the list to turn our noses up at EH. Fingers crossed he has turned the corner.

Difference is you seem to be considering ability only. If it was the only issue I would have him on our list any day

I always look at group and overall effect especially those around him and the club as a whole. We are a club trying to establish standards and his have been deplorable. He has players and staff off side. What message does that send to the group if he gets a 3rd or 5th chance? It’s not as if he just had a night out on the drink.

TBH with the stuff he has done (and I’m not sure I have been told the whole picture) I would have told him to bugger off. My gut feel is if he was a lesser talent he would have been

If it were simple we would definitely keep him. Talented and under contract.

The fact he has been delisted, paid out and no one else has wanted him says it all to me

Just my opinion

I dont know exactly what hes done but figure it must be bad if not a single club wanted him for free, considering his talent. And this is in an industry where really poor behaviour is constantly overlooked, if the individual has talent.

Quite alarming but easy to overlook and focus more on football ability, when the facts aren't all out.

So basically Elijah Hollands will be back as a Carlton player next year?
I worry about him and his mental health if he does all the right things and the club dont pick him up.

I do wonder why the statement "considered for train on" was used.

If its as unlikely as SOAP suggests, might have been better for all (Lij, Ollie, his family, the Club) to just cut ties and put him out of his misery. Let him move on with his life.

If we have given him some hope, I would hope its accompanied by a legimate desire to pick him if he does all the right things.

Quite likely having an opening at all is dependant on how the draft pans out IE where the bids come and whether we take an extra early selection.

Also the number of train ons depends on openings. Possible we have two openings so can have 4 train ons. One spot means two train ons but there is scope for VFL listed players too (White and Phillips?)

I do find it a bit strange

Also, we will pick up Dean, Ison and maybe one more in draft even if we pick another tall they won’t be ready to play on big bodies in 2026

Surely, we need another Key back? We effectively have Weitering and then Young who could be required elsewhere? Haynes McGovern aren’t genuine talls

I would love Phillips to form a partnership with Weitering. If we have a train on spot during pre season (very likely one maximum) why would we trial both Elijah and White? We have their roles covered

Dean, HOF look to be the future but aren’t real considerations next season

There is no one else on list and I find that a real weakness. An injury or two and we are in real trouble

💯 reassessment post draft on # of picks at ND, upgrade and/or rookie draft wanting to be hit.

Chance there is no train-ons but that goes against our usual MO.

Think VFL signings/squad will be the outlet for some to train.

I wonder if allowing Elijah to train on was part of the deal for him to accept a payout. Could he agree to take less money with the possibility of continuing his career. Similar to Jamarra

If I was to guess I would say no. Bottom line is I can’t see a spare spot unless we have some serious injuries

Also, is he what we need? If we have one spot left over the summer I would think a KPP would be more of a need?

I reckon he could train and play VFL with option of being picked up mid year or end of year. He needs to prove himself over long period not just a few weeks
Couldn't disagree more.

Elijah is exactly what we need. I hope we keep him.

He is paid to play football. He is an excellent footballer. Let's get him playing good football for the club and move forward.

Forever and a day great teams have managed and supported younger footballers with off field issues. You do that because you reckon the importance of keeping them connected and wanting to improve your side. I don't think Elijah has gone past the point of no return. If he had, we wouldn't be talking about train on opportunities

So no matter how disruptive, how it may have effected other players or regardless of what they may have done, you will keep a player?

Fair to say you see it different to me

Would have been easier to just cut ties, but I think this shows Lij how serious we are about ending his career and puts it back on him, I am sure there are clear KPIs that he has to achieve to be offered the spot, this would be transparent and he would know exactly where he stands and what needs to be done.

Im guessing with being delisted and not knowing what he done would there be resentment from some players with the chances he has been getting?

Not arguing here, but didn't Philips train with us last off season and didn't really impress?

(granted he had a very goof VFL season this year).

I do hope so. I just don’t see us going through the trouble of delisting a player and then turning around to say they will consider picking him up again. That bodes well for Elijah.
They said they would “consider him for train on” which is long way from saying we will consider you for a spot

They also said the same for White.

It’s very realistic we won’t even have a spot available after the draft

He did and didn’t step up. BUT the way he turned that around this year was impressive. Says a lot.

Plus he has played at the level and be more than solid

Whether it’s Phillips, Frost, Blight or someone else I still believe we need someone
