2026 - Reduce the failures to kick half the opposition score from 9 to under 5. Disregard w/l. Games into talented youth. Start adding mature talent plus another influx of talented draftees.

2027 - Start competing more seriously in most games. Improve w/l to around 7-8 wins at least. Get serious with recruiting mature talent, as we phase out some old timers. By the end of this season a some of our gun youngsters from the 2024 draft intake will be approaching 50 AFL games.

2028 - Announce our brand. Nobody gets a soft kill against the Tigers, nobody. And if you bring a knife to a gunfight, we will smack your package in fine style. A large group of talented players pass the 50 game mark. Get our w/l closer to neutral. Put the locking key pieces into place on the list.

2029 - No more excuses, no more Mr Nice Guy. Final stragglers from our talented youngsters pass 50 games. We are the word upon everyone's lips as we start consistently winning. Finals participation not negotiable. Taj mania sweeps the nation. Time for Gru and Meteoric to get back on the bandy and renew our membershipz.

2030 - We celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our last flag from the previous dynasty with the first flag of the new dynasty. Adem "Aura" Yze is hailed as an understated genius with Gru and Meteoric going off their 3kz's in the stands, scaring the **** out of mum and kid Cats supporters wherever possible. This time it is decided to share the Norms around during the dynasty and Tom Brown takes the gong for an impeccable display across half back.

That's the Yze timeline Gru. Judge him by that and I will catch you on the bandwagon in 2029. 😎
I'll simplify it.

2026 - % ~ 75-85%

2027 - % ~ 85-95%

2028 - % ~ 95-105%

2029 - % ~ 105-115%

2030 - % > 120%

Obviously learning how to win close ones will then determine an elevated ladder position, but percentage is just about always the best indicator of where a developing team sits.

yze should be given marching orders if we are bottom 4 again in 2026

the minimum for me is heavily pushing for finals and then making finals in 27 as the comp is weak as shite
its become superleague,ya dont get any traction till ya 27 nowadays, just look at dangerflop n his partner in fraud Jeramiah
useless eaters @ 22-23

rubbish

we belted crows who finished top this year at home last season. we beat the grand finalists . we won 5 games this year

the comp isnt what it was

the excuses are starting to build up
Why ignore the reailty? Bottom-4 in 2025 were Eagles, Tigers, North and Bombers.

Youngest 4 teams in 2025? Eagles, Tigers, North and Bombers.
Least experienced 4 teams in 2025? Eagles, Tigers, North and Bombers.

And based on delistings and trades thus far, our list has gone from 15th average age in 2025 to 17th right now.

If Broad, Lynch and Prestia hang up the boots end of 2026 we will be bottom-4 for age and experience again in 2027.

Having said that, occasionally teams buck the trend and make finals with a young and inexperienced team, so fingers crossed that's us in 2027....but history says it's highly unlikely if we are bottom-4 for age and experience, which we will be.

When Hardwick arrived in 2010:

Jack R: 4th season
Rance: 3rd season
Cotchin : 3rd season
Edwards: 4th season
Dusty: 1st season
Grimes: 1st season
Astbury: 1st season

When Yze arrived :
Our 8 x draftees : Minus 12-months
2 more top-4 picks: minus 24-months

*and lost a heap of our best players.

Our age and experience will have us bottom-3 for 2026-27… it’s just not reasonable to compare Dimma and Yze given Dimma’s superstars were all there for 1-4 years when he started coaching.
Yes and regrettably we don’t have the calibre of those first four on our list other than our first year players. The ones from 2021 draft are not even close to that level.

We don’t know yet … in 2010 none of Grimes, Astbury, Edwards or Rance looked like being much good due to performance / injury.

But I agree the crop prior to 2024 don’t contain a Cotchin, Riewoldt or Martin…. so long as the 2024 draftees do then happy days !

2027 will be yzes 4th year (if he gets there)

the club will be expecting finals in that year yet we have people on here "NAH WE WILL BE BOTTOM 4" 🤣🤣🤣
Every situation is different. I'd prefer to look at the actual situation and then set my expectations based on that.

Matthew Nicks finished 15th in 2024 in his 5th year with 8 x wins. Finished on top in his 6th season. In 2024 Adelaide were 14th for average age and 15th for average games played. In 2025 they were 7th and 10th. Who woulda thunk it........it's a miracle!!!

If we have a playing list in 2027 that is bottom-4 for age and experience we almost certainly won't be playing finals. Maybe we will secure a trade and free agent end of 2026 and not be bottom-4 in age and experience, I don't know?

What the club will probably do is look back in history, see that teams bottom-4 in age and experience almost never ever make finals, and as a result won't expect or demand it. Us nuffies on BF might....but we just say 'It's his 4th year so where is the flag'......?? And give little consideration to what is realistic.

And how long did Cotch, Jack, Dusty etc have to play together to become a decent finals team? 6+ years of AFL footy, core of our next premiership team are entering season 2. We are years away

Hawks won flag in 2015, then finished:

2016 lost both finals
2017 12th
2018 lost both finals
2019 9th
2020 15th
2021 14th
2022 13th
2023 16th

They were shyte for 8 years Gru.

Now trying to recruit 30yo's all over the place to make up for their failed rebuild. And wizard is a stinking little shit.

Longer than that. They were a weak top 4 side in 2018 and then fell right away and didn't come good until 2024.

Plus, their current squad is no guarantee to win anything.

When did Richmond begin its rebuilding phase? It definitely wasn’t in 2022.

Hardwick was preparing for the 2023 finals series (topping up with trades in 2022), but when McQualter was appointed as caretaker, he had the chance to give the younger players some experience but chose not to.

Dumma made finals in 2013 after inheriting the worst team since Fitzroy , ouzo won’t be anywhere near finals in his fourth year
