I can't say I went and smelled it but it's some sort of gum
Lemon scented gums are notorious for dropping big branches for no reason.
There have been fatalities in school playgrounds over the years with little kids sitting under them when they decided to drop a branch.
Many years ago when I was in my first home, people were encouraged to plant them in their yards.
I will say that you get a wonderful smell when you mow underneath them.
Lovely, lemony scent.

The trunk on mine was gorgeous, especially after it shed its bark each year. I used to like to pat it for some reason when I was near it.
Unfortunately, I had to get rid of it as it had a big branch hanging over the roof.
Took some doing getting council permission.
