Arrh forgot about that Hawks trade my apologies there.

Think North would want to trade up maybe get in a position to take Schubert?

Least you guys have options, you have enough right now for Cody basically with our first included, surely that's plenty. I'm also not convinced they change bidding rules till after Tassie it makes sense to do it afterwards. They will wait and see how this new system goes for a few years.
Doubt it for North. Not worth the extra cost this time around. The club commented something similar during the trade period.

Figure the earliest a dean bid comes is 7. If blues trade 9 for 16 and f1 let’s say then pick 11 goes and 16 becomes 20 after matching and crows f1.
If they hold 9/11 then 9 goes and 11 becomes 12 but no f1.
So Dean and say Dovaston or dean and say Harley Barker and a teens f1 pick. With drafting I would always go the extra decent pick gives hit and miss rates.

Don't you have two earlish seconds? That would surely be enough it's just to get some points basically. Gives you a shot at maybe a Schubert or whatever the slider

I wouldn't be surprised if Richmond bid he'd suit them. Then they take Taylor.

Those will float out a bit. I believe we prefer a few targets to cover a few needs, I.e. Baker for wing, Pickett for small forward, a sliding kpf.

Rawlings commented on moving up and that north tried moving up, but the cost was too much.

If the Richmond interest in Taylor is true then makes sense for Richmond to bid then if they match then take Taylor if not great they get Dean. If Richmond are actually looking at Taylor which could be just talk as our defense is pretty good at the moment with the young players on the list Gibcus - Trainor - Brown - Balta - Miller

Picks 25 & 26 won't get us very high - maybe to pick 17 or thereabouts. It wouldn't be enough to get to Schubert.

They come in a bit on draft night and Carl may just want the extra few points that's all it is for them if they go that way. Alternatively they may decide to soak pick 9 and take 11 and get a slider themselves.

Carlton don't have an F2.

Not sure about 11, we might not get an offer?
In the scenario that we trade 9 to Adelaide (for 16 + 26F1, maybe F4 back?), we would just need more points. Maybe North?
Would ~24,~25,~47,~56, 2026 R2, 2027 R2 > Carl > 9,11 - whet your appetite?

I (can) can't see us offering a whole lot more for picks in a draft we've already traded out of, but we are Norf.

I doubt it.
If we're trading out in that way, I think we'd get a better offer of future/s for #9.

Yep if you are trading 9 out surely it’s for a f1 in some shape or form unless you just say stuff it we soak 9 for Dean and basically take pick 11 to the draft

Agree. I don't think we can trade a 2026 R1 because, like you we're FS/nga with McCartney or Harris or Devine.

Interesting predicament you boys find yourselves in - you gotta trade it, but nobody wants it.

They don’t have to trade it they might but have to is pushing it. Can just soak the 9, that’s basically flat what Dean would be worth and then have 11 to either take someone or trade into next year OR trade down in a split fashion maybe bank an extra second next season. They have options

We don't have to trade it.
We have roughly 2 directions/strategies that we can go, depending on when the bid for Dean comes, either
1. Go for a 2nd first round player this year, or
2. Settle for Dean and Ison (and maybe a late 3rd player) and trade out for 2026.

I have no idea which way they'll go, and it is probably dependent on what happens in the first 10 picks on draft night.
But, we could certainly have 9 take most of (or all of if he lasts till Melbourne) the Dean hit, and use our second 1st rounder on the night.

Slide to eagles third pick yes please (tell em he's dreamin) hahaha
Wonder if Robey has a big go home factor
There is an outside chance that happens.
Richmond won't pick him.
If he gets past the 4 picks that Melbourne and Essendon have from 5-8, hell probably be there at 13.
Carlton, GWS and Hawthorn are looking for different styles of players and are unlikely to pick him.

Adelaide will offer pick 16 and F1 for Carlton pick 9 and 11 if Schubert is still available on the night, particularly if a bid comes in before pick 9.

Carlton get their man Dean and instead of sliding to pick 20+ with pick 11, they get valuable points for 2026 to guarantee Cody Walker should he go top 2.

And get to death ride crom.

Thats a great deal for the Cows but a shit deal for Carlton

Why would they accept this as the crows will be a top 4 team and their pick likely in the 20 range next year
whilst taking a points hit this year.

Best deal for Carlton would be to trade with the Bombers on the night if a bid comes prior to their pick

What else are Adelaide adding with this picks?

reckon you will need to throw more in than f1. We will need more points for an NGA in Ison and will rpobably want more for next year as well

all comes back to whether Carlton want an earlier than Dean pick this year ie trade with Essendon make sense

or we are happy with Dean, Ison and a later third pick as we want another future first ie trade with Adelaide (but more than just 16 and f1 for 9 and 11)

I'm surprised this seems to be the strong consensus, I don't think we finish better next year than this year, we had a pretty good draw this year with not many of our away games against the good teams.

IMO Carlton would jump at this deal, but I think you are right that there needs to be a bit more negotiation, say all the rest of Adelaide's points this year (currently pick 48 and 55 - both which will come in for more points than current position) - and maybe a f3 or f4 back to Adelaide. Would that be enough?

This deal can't be the answer to all your points needs, Carlton would have to still push futures around to get this done.

BTW this is reported in the paper today, not my made up rumour!

If we are a top 4 team next year I'd be stoked, but I'm not seeing it - the competition is too tight and Adelaide too inexperienced for that.
