Got tickets the last time, then they pulled out because James was blasting piss. I only wanted Slipknot anyway really. Metallica are middling in my favorite stakes as in "Meh i like em but wouldn't bother to see em live."

Same with the previous gig.

Wanted to take my boys to their first concert this time, checked ticket availability about two weeks in and there were hundreds available. Went to buy them the next day and they’d all been snapped up by a ticket tout. Then checked viagogo and the cheapest tickets were $800 lol. **** that. We found a good spot with clear sound outside the stadium last night and listened to a few songs instead

It's mad to me that Metallica were in the Oval and Iron Maiden were only in the Entertainment Centre.

I thought Iron Maiden were much bigger!

Shows what I know about heavy metal.

Difference is Iron Maiden have no mass market appeal. You have to be into metal to like them. Metallica have mass broad appeal from people who like hard rock. Everyone knows who they are, everyone knows a few of their songs, they get played on commercial radio daily. Iron Maiden do not.

One very happy Dodgers supporter here. I did not even think they would make the WS one month ago with all the bullpen issues they were having.

Kershaw's last MLB game. Goes out as a champion.
Paid big money to sign Yamamoto but well worth it. He has 6 different pitches. Most pitchers average 3-4.
Rojas' unexpected HR. There is always one on these stories in the WS.
Held my breath when both Pages and Hernandez were worth both tracking the same fly ball and then collided.

I am sure there will be calls for a salary cap but cannot see that getting past the players union.

A salary cap won't solve the problem. The luxury tax which is meant to act as a sort of soft cap is already there, the Dodgers paid about $150m+ in taxes this season. They want to win badly enough to pay over half a billion dollars in payroll + taxes, good luck to them, at least they're trying to win.

How you begin to solve the problem is installing a salary floor and getting the cheaper teams to actually have to pay a minimum salary, which would help them retain the star players who end up going to bigger market teams willing to pay them. Teams like the Pirates, Marlins, Rays, White Sox etc. Paul Skenes will be wearing Dodger blue before too long because Pittsburgh won't want to pony up to keep him.

I doubt a salary floor will happen though because the owners don't want to be forced to spend money. Wouldn't surprise me if there is a work stoppage when the CBA is next up for negotiation.

They were good fun. Good set. Thought they butchered the first half of fade to black. From where I was sitting the bass was often too loud in the mix.

My son loved it so that made the night for me. We also had a bit of luck with a seat upgrade. I got us the cheapest seats i could, so we were row U on level 5 of the eastern stand. We were only there 5 minutes and one of the stadium people came along and offered us and everyone around us in the back rows seats on level 1. The stage had been set back too far, leaving an empty block of seats near the stage that the band wanted filled so they gave out tickets to people in the back rows to fill it up.
Ended up with this view

Yeah bass was heavy early, could hardly hear Kirk's riffs

Second half was excellent

Standouts were Fuel and One for me

Feeling it this morning though

Glad I saw Iron Maiden inside at the entertainment centre and not AO

I do remember an interview many years ago with George Harrison (from The Beatles for you young ones) who was a regular at the Adelaide GP as a guest of the McLaren F1 team.

This was in the first year of the GP in Melbourne and a reporter asked George what he thought of the event and was shocked when he responded with "It is not as good as Adelaide".
It's like Adelaide Oval vs. MCG. Sure the MCG / Melbourne GP may be bigger, but it lacks the character and soul of AO / the Adelaide GP. Bigger isn't always better.

The old ANZAC day games at AO used to be fantastic, played between the previous years Grand Final teams.
Much better spectacle than watching Collingwood play Essendon every fking year.

For the record, both the official race weekend crowd (520,000) and the race day crowd (210,000) for the last Adelaide F1 Grand Prix in 1995 were bigger than any crowd since for the Melbourne race.

The largest (official) crowd for the 22 years the race has been held at Albert Park was this year where 465,000 attended over the full weekend and 131,547 on race day.

Metallica are the biggest metal band ever and no other really comes close. Not even Sabbath or Ozzy. No metal band has broken in to mainstream like Enter Sandman.

The black and white photo doesn't help, but this is Status Quo front man Francis Rossi, looking like a page from the history books. Which I suppose he is really, except he's just released a new recording. The two tracks that I barely listened to didn't inspire all that much - maybe the one who died had more talent...

The old Status Quo every song started the same.

Legacy was destroyed with those Coles ads.
Down down, prices are down.
