For all those we need a ruckman folks

Blame Hamish Brayshaw

😬

There's a reason they went that low.

Sometimes it comes off, but most of the players drafted in that range prove to not be cut out for AFL level. There's a huge amount of luck involved once you get into the latter stages of a draft.

Of course, I could also be missing a joke here.

Duursma, Sharp, Schubert is a pretty well rounded first three picks

Personally I prefer to skip the academy and f/s players. So they have CDT at 2, Cumming at 5 and Sharp at 7. Very interesting and thorough guide thanks for posting.

I would be very surprised if we picked Sharp at 2. Draft night's going to be interesting that's for sure.

It will be telling when training reports start coming in on Monday and we find out which players are training with the midfield group. Maybe we don't need mids as desperately as a lot of posters think.
A 1 win season suggests we absolutely do

On Gettable someone asked who the Eagles might pick at 13 and they mentioned Sharp. It doesn't sound likely that he'd last that long, but the vibe was much more around clubs like Essendon and Melbourne looking at him, possibly even clubs later on. Usually Twomey is pretty clued in to what clubs are thinking so there definitely isn't a feel of Sharp going toward the pointy end (us, Richmond) of the draft.

If we really wanted Sharp (and we probably don't) it would be much better to trade out of pick 2 with someone like Essendon or Melbourne and just pick him later while either moving up from 13 or getting some additional draft capital for next year's draft.

Just heard a whisper that Sharp has told the WCE if they draft him he will go home after 3 years.
This comes from an opposition club, so maybe trying to throw a rock in the pond.
Just seems against everything we have heard from Sharp and those in SA who now him better than us!!
Not sure I would place much credit in the rumour, but has anyone got any better intel on if this is remotely true??
Also thinks we are taking CDT with pick 2!!
Not posted for melts but just interested in any intel??

Doesn’t this fly against what Sharp has said publicly? These kinds of “whispers” carry no weight with me.

Doubt it’s got any truth to it. Even if it was, three years is a long time in footy, a lot can change on and off field. Winning, form, opportunities, friendships, relationships, etc, can all motivate someone to stay. Look at Harley for example. He’s really embraced life here and looks set for a long stint, hopefully the rest of his career, in Perth.

Look Perth might not be the best city in the world, but it's certainly better than Adelaide.

Murphy Reid was considered a massive flight risk last year and he signed up for an extension in his first season

I suspect if we are interested in say a pick #2 (and player) we have met him and his family.

Historically clubs wouldn’t bother bidding if late in draft given the club they’re tied to can match for basically nothing

But if we’ve used all our picks by that point it’s open slather

But in reality no club would do that for a father son unless they have a massive axe to grind.
